MPI Announce Auditions for A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC

Mariemont Players Announce Auditions For A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC

mpi_logoDirector Skip Fenker will hold auditions for the Mariemont Players production of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, a musical romance in waltz time, at 7:00pm on Sunday, October 6th and at 7:00pm on Monday, October 7th at the Walton Creek Theater, 4101 Walton Creek Road (just east of Mariemont). A Little Night Music has music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler . This production is being produced by Kathy Beiting, with musical direction by Ron Attreau, vocal direction by Kendra Struthers and choreography by Mike Fielder. 

Auditions are on a “first come, first served” basis. Those auditioning are asked to provide a current resume and headshot and to prepare 32 bars of a song that best shows your vocal range. Accompaniment will be provided. PLEASE, NO CD’S, TAPES OR ACCAPELLA NUMBERS. Please provide sheet msic in the proper key, with cuts marked. 

The production calls for a cast of 6 males and 9 females of varyng ages, including a 12-year old girl. 

Set to a lilting score in three quarter time, this captivating tale of romance in turn of the century Sweden follows the amorous adventures of Desiree Armfeldt, a touring actress. When her past and present lovers — and their jealous wives — show up for a weekend in the country, surprising liaisons, passions and a taste of love’s endless possibilities are all brought to light.

Rehearsals for this production will begin in late October, with performances January 10th through January 26, 2014.

  • DESIREE ARMFELDT – A self-absorbed, once-successful actress now touring the country-side. She becomes entangled in a love triangle with the Count and Fredrick.

  • FREDRICK EGERMAN – Middle-aged lawyer who is married to his second wife, Anne, and has a son, Henrik, from his first marriage.

  • MADAME ARMFELDT – Desiree’s elderly mother; brutally honest and a veteran of discreet encounters with the crowned heads of Europe.

  • COUNT CARL-MAGNUS MALCOLM – Vain, arrogant, and splendidly proportioned but ferociously jealous. He is Desiree’s newest lover.

Fairfield Footlighters Announce Auditions for DRACULA

fflThe Fairfield Footlighters announce auditions for their production of DRACULA by Hamilton Deane and John Balderston:

Wednesday, August 21, and Thursday, August 22 — 6:30PM
(If there is a conflict, other appointments can be made with the director.)

Auditions will be by cold readings from the script.

Available roles:

  • Miss Wells — the maid, any age
  • Jonathan Harker — one of the three vampire hunters, age 23-30; plays opposite Lucy.
  • Lucy Seward — a young victim of Dracula, age 23-30; plays opposite Harker
  • Dr. Seward — Lucy’s father, also a vampire hunter, age 50+
  • Abraham van Helsing — the Dutch expert on vampires, age 50+
  • R. M. Renfield — a victim of Dracula and an inmate of Dr. Seward’s sanatorium, age 25-35
  • Butterworth — the sanatorium attendant, age 35+
  • Count Dracula — the classicly scary vampire, age 40+ 

Accents: The players will use British Received Pronunciation accents, except for Butterworth who will use a Cockney accent, and Dracula who will use an Eastern European accent.

Performances: Friday – Sunday, November 15, 16, 17 and November 22, 23, 24. Matinees on Sundays at 2PM.

Rehearsals: Table readings begin September 9, with rehearsals 2-3 times per week starting mid- September. Not all actors will be needed for each rehearsal.

HWP Announces Auditions for A KLINGON CHRISTMAS CAROL

20130608-223912.jpgBa’Qa’! This is a translation of the Dickens classic holiday tale. Scrooge has no courage, nor honor. The ghosts are coming to help him fix that. Because Klingons are what they are, expect stage combat, singing, and a lot of guttural sounds. Entering its 4th year in Chicago, this show has garnered national and international press attention. And now this one of a kind production is coming to the Cincinnati area!

Performances will be held at the Art Academy of Cincinnati in Over-The-Rhine on December 11-15 and 18-22 of 2013. Rehearsals will begin October 14th and run until the show’s opening on weekday evenings with some weekend afternoons. The show is being produced by Hugo West Theatricals, and directed by Mike Hall with fight direction by Jonn Baca. There will be a stipend paid based off a percentage of the total profits earned from ticket sales.

Auditions are scheduled for August 31st from 12 PM to 6 PM, with a possible callback date of September 1st from 12 PM to 6 PM. Auditions will be held at The Carnegie in Covington, KY. The address is 1028 Scott Blvd, Covington, KY 41011.

Please dress for movement. (Klingon apparel is not necessary and strongly discouraged.) Audition will consist of readings from the script (in English), a quick fight sequence, and a language-lesson. Actors will audition in groups of 20 for a 75 minute time block. You will be required to stay the entire 75 minutes. Please also bring a headshot and resume.

TCP Announces Auditions for DEATHTRAP and THE CURIOUS SAVAGE

TCPTri-County Players are having combined auditions for their Winter and Spring plays. Auditions are 2 to 4pm on Sunday Sept. 15, and 7 to 9 pm on Monday Sept. 16. The auditions will be held at the North College Hill City Center, 1500 W. Galbraith Rd. Cincinnati OH 45231.

DEATHTRAP by Ira Levin

Plot: Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, is struggling to overcome a dry spell which has resulted in a string of failures and a shortage of funds. A possible break in his fortunes occurs when he receives a script from one of his students – a thriller which Sidney recognizes immediately as a potential hit. He plans offer collaboration, an idea which the younger man quickly accepts. Thereafter suspense mounts steadily as the plot begins to twist and turn with devilish cleverness and an abundance of thrills and laughter until the final startling moments of the play.

  • Mrs. Wilhelmina – Attractive nurse age 20’s to 30’s.

Plot: Ethel Savage is a widow with unusual ideas of how to spend her late husband’s millions. Her grown up stepchildren very much want to get their hands on the negotiable securities that represent ten million dollars, before Ethel gives it all away. Hoping to bring her to her senses, the stepchildren have her committed to a sanatorium. At The Cloisters she meets various social misfits, who just cannot adjust themselves to life, but who become true friends to Mrs. Savage. They even help her thwart the efforts of the stepchildren to get the millions for themselves.

Looking for three strong Caucasian male leads ages 30 to 40 to portray characters in this Professionally produced Christmas show. They will represent the Army, Navy, and Marines. All are speaking roles and require no singing, but good acting skills.

Show dates are December 5, 6, 7, 8. Rehearsals begin in Mid-September.
