Additional Auditions Announced for MAMMA MIA! at Loveland Stage Company

OPEN SUPPLEMENTAL AUDITIONS for MAMMA MIA will be held at the Loveland Stage Company Theatre (111 S. 2nd. Street (Rt 48) Loveland, OH 45140), on

Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 6-8 pm

AUDITION FORM: Please find the audition form on the Loveland Stage Company website.

SHOW DATES
2 weekends: 8 performances
August 15, 16, 17, 18   and   23, 24 (matinee and evening), 25
Rehearsals will start June 3.

EVERYONE: Please prepare 16 to 32 bars of a song in the same style as the show to showcase your range. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes for a dance audition. There will also be cold readin gs from the script.

CASTING REQUIREMENTS

Cast Size:  About 30 -35, age 16 and over.

This is a supplemental audition for chorus/ensemble, both male and female, as well as three male roles, as noted below.  The additional roles (Donna, Tanya, Rosie, Soph ie, Lisa, Ali, Harry, Bill, Sam) have been cast..  This audition is for:

  • Sky                             20’s     Sophie’s Fiancee
  • Pepper                        20’s   &nbs p; Sky’s friend and Barman at Taverna
  • Eddie                          20’s     Sky’s friend and works at the Taverna

NOTE: Ages noted are age of the STAGE characters

Chorus : Male and female. Variety of ages. Islanders who work at Donna’s, wedding guests.

Synopsis: A Romantic Comedy featuring music by Abba, set on a Mediterranean Island sparkling in the irridescent blue Aegean. Action takes place on the eve of Sophia’s wedding to Sky and the next day.

Music and Lyrics by Benny Anderson & Bjorn Ulvaeus and some songs with Stig Anderson. Book by Catherine Johnson.

Auditions Announced for BLITHE SPIRIT at The Drama Workshop

TDW_VERTAUDITIONS for The Drama Workshop’s production of BLITHE SPIRIT.

Written by Noel Coward, directed by Gina Kleesattel, produced by Clint Bramkamp and Megan Schultheis.

Auditions will be May 5 & 6, at The Glenmore Playhouse, 3716 Glenmore Ave, Cheviot, OH 45211. Doors will open at 6:30pm, and auditions will begin promptly at 7pm. Callbacks, if needed, will take place Thursday May 9 at 7:00 pm at The Glenmore Playhouse.  Actors are welcome to bring a resume and headshot, if they have those available, but it is not required.  Additionally if an actor has a prepared monologue, those can be heard as well.

Show dates are October 11 through October 27, 2019. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 pm, Sunday afternoon at 2 pm. One mid-week performance on Thurs. October 24 at 7:30 pm.

ABOUT THE SHOW: Blithe Spirit concerns the socialite and novelist Charles Condomine, who invites the eccentric medium and clairvoyant, Madame Arcati, to his house to conduct a séance, hoping to gather material for his next book. The scheme backfires when he is haunted by the ghost of his annoying and temperamental first wife, Elvira, after the séance. Elvira makes continual attempts to disrupt Charles’s marriage to his second wife, Ruth, who cannot see or hear the ghost.

PARTS (high English accent for roles):

CHARLES CONDOMINE: (acting age: forties): Charles is an intelligent and urbane English novelist. Charles is the husband of Ruth Condomine and deceased first wife, Elvira.

RUTH CONDOMINE: (acting age: mid-thirties): smart looking woman in her mid-thirties, Ruth is the wife of Charles. She is a bit jealous of Charles’s relationship with his first wife.

DR. BRADMAN: (acting age: middle age): A pleasant-looking middle-aged man, Dr. Bradman is a friend of the Condomines.

VIOLET BRADMAN: (acting age: middle aged)The wife of Dr. Bradman, Mrs. Bradman is middle-aged and a bit faded.

MADAME ARCATI: (acting age: middle aged): A middle-aged spiritualist, Madame Arcati is a striking woman. She is not too extravagant but has a definite bias toward the barbaric.

ELVIRA CONDOMINE: Charles Condomine’s deceased first wife, Elvira returns as a ghost with a goal. In the process, she makes Charles’s and Ruth’s lives very complicated.

EDITH: The Condomine’s maid, Edith is always in a hurry.

“IS HE DEAD?” SYNOPSIS
The focuses on a fictional version of the great French painter, Jean-François Millet, as an impoverished artist in Barbizon, France. With the help of his colleagues, he stages his own death in order to increase the value of his paintings and afterwards dresses as a woman to keep his secret safe. Combining elements of burlesque, farce, and social satire, the comedy relies on such devices as cross-dressing, mistaken identities, and romantic deceptions to tell its story, which raises questions about fame, greed, and the value of art.

CAST OF CHARACTERS (7 men, 4 women)

  • Jean-François Millet/Widow Daisy Tillou – Male, 30ish (strong, good, creative)
  • Bastien Andre, art dealer and moneylender – Male, 30-40 (greedy)
  • Marie Leroux, Millet’s girlfriend – Female 25-30 (sweet, innocent, in love)
  • Papa Louis Leroux, Marie’s father – Male, mid 60s (protective, not well)
  • Cecile Leroux, Marie’s sister – Female, 25-30 (savvy young woman)
  • Hans von Bismarck (“Dutchy”), Millet’s friend – Male, 30ish (German)
  • Phelim O’Shaughnessy, Millet’s friend – Male, 30ish (Irish)
  • Agamemnon Buckner (“Chicago”), Millet’s friend – Male, 40s (American) These three characters are Jean-Francois’s best friends and cohorts in life and helpers in making sales.
  • Madame Caron, Millet’s landlady – Female (plays elderly, but not decrepit)
  • Madame Bathilde, Millet’s landlady – Female (plays elderly, but not decrepit) These two ladies are dearest friends and companions. They are lovely in demeanor and personalities.
  • Unnamed male in several small comic roles – Male, 20s to 40s (scene-stealer)

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

  • No monologue required
  • Provide your theater resume/headshot
  • Personal introduction to audition panel – tell us a bit about yourself
  • Tell a joke (no knock-knock jokes please)
  • Cold readings from the script; will include reading opposite other auditionees
  • No dialect necessary except for those auditioning for Dutchy, who should try a German accent, and those auditioning for Phelim, who should attempt an Irish dialect.
  • Be prepared for group improvisations.

Synopsis: Welcome to William’s Earworm meetings, a support group for those that are plagued by a catchy tune that won’t let loose. Each week, the members come together to attempt to decipher the reasons why they each have their unique songs stuck with them. It’s at these meetings that Chris meets Rachel, and they quickly discover that the key to alleviating their Earworms, may just lie in each other. But when they finally discover the silence, how much are they willing to sacrifice to keep the quiet?

Written by Cincinnati native, David Bryant, Earworm deals with themes of mental health, addiction, relationships, and how we perceive the world around us.

Available Roles:

  • William: 30s to 40s, Earworm counselor, carries an aura of confidence and wisdom. William is the professor type and always wants to teach somebody something.
  • Bob: mid 20’s to 30’s, Chris’s roommate, works night-shift, and a huge nerd. Bob is abnormal in all the best ways. He has unique tastes and is always caring and optimistic.
  • Tucker: mid 20 to 30’s, irritable, opinionated, and looking for answers. He dresses well and people often mistake him for being gay. Tucker is not closed minded, but he gets frustrated easily.
  • Olivia: mid 20’s to 30’s, shy, awkward, and a hopeless romantic. Olivia puts her crushes on a pedestal but can’t muster enough courage to talk to them, let alone ask them out. She dresses in loose, baggy free-spirited clothing.

The roles of Chris and Rachel have been cast

All roles will receive a stipend at the close of production
