Auditions Announced for INCORRIGIBLE at CenterStage Players

CSP_logoCenterStage Players is excited to announce auditions for our world premiere of INCORRIGIBLE.

Local playwright Teri Foltz gives us a story of men and how they deal with emotions of grief, shame, and anger. Sigmund Freud said, “Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive and will come forth later in ugly ways.” Every character in Incorrigible is dealing with grief, shame and anger. And they suffer silently and alone. Everybody has a past…some people still live there.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, October 3 from 1:00-3:00 PM and on Monday, October 4 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Lockland High School (249 W Forrer Avenue – Cincinnati – enter through door #10).

Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Headshots and resumes are appreciated.

Reserve an audition time via the following link (walk-ins will be accommodated if possible as the schedule allows):

Cast of Characters (NO roles have been pre-cast):

  • ROBBY – A high school senior with a reputation for being “incorrigible.” He gets into fights often and has been suspended several times. He is smart, but more of a smart aleck when he speaks to his father or other authority figures. He lives with his father who graduated from the same high school where Robby attends. His mother died when Robby was four years old. Robby is 17-18.
  • GEORGE – Robby’s father- around 50 years old – a successful businessman. He has never healed from the grief of losing his wife who had been his high school sweetheart.
  • DAVIS – The high school principal who began as an assistant principal when George was a senior in high school. He is about to retire. He is smart and instinctive when it comes to troubled teens. Davis is in his early 60’s.
  • JAKE – The high school custodian who also graduated from this high school with Robby’s father, George. Jake grew up as a foster child and only came to this high school his senior year before he was aged out of foster care. Davis, the assistant principal at the time, helped him at a critical moment in his life. He is also around 50 years old.
  • CHELSEA – A high school cheerleader with an alcoholic mother. She takes a liking to Robby, who does not know how to respond to friendship. Chelsea is 17-18.
  • AUNT DEBBIE – Robby’s aunt; his mother’s sister. Estranged family member. Debbie is in her mid- to late 40’s.

Character ages are for reference only.

Rehearsals will begin in early December and the show dates are February 18-27, 2022.

Auditions Announced for GENDER BENDER REVUE at Mason Community Players

MCP_sm logoMason Community Players Celebrates 5 Years of Gender Bender!

MCP is pleased to announce auditions for the fifth annual Gender Bender Revue. After a successful virtual performance in 2020, we are excited to return to the stage for in-person performances, and we hope to welcome new performers as well as familiar faces to participate!

To celebrate half a decade of Gender Bender, this year’s performance will feature throwbacks to fan-favorite performances from previous years, as well as plenty of new performances you won’t find anywhere else.

We are looking for a diverse group of performers from all over the Greater Cincinnati area. Join us for a rare opportunity to perform pieces like they’ve never been done before. This is your chance to perform a song, dance, or spoken word traditionally performed by another gender.

All different forms of performance are welcomed: singers, actors, dancers,…and anything else!

Please note that the production team is accepting (and encouraging) virtual auditions. However, rehearsals and performances will be in-person.

What to Prepare:

Male Audition Added for CURTAINS at Loveland Stage Company

LSC_logoSPECIAL AUDITION
We are calling for some musical men! Both leads and Male ensemble are needed for this deadly romp of a musical comedy.

Audition appointments https://tinyurl.com/LSCCurtainsAuditions

Rehearsal schedule TWTh 7-9:30 Sun 2-5
Show dates Fri, Sat, Sundays Nov 5-21
Directed by Charlie Rader
Produced by Thomas Cavano

The Story of “Curtains” – Curtains is a backstage musical with a “play-within-the play”. Set in the 1950’s it tells the story of a troupe of actors, the cast of “Robbin’ Hood,” an ill-conceived musical in its Boston pre-Broadway tryout. On opening night, its supremely untalented leading lady is murdered on stage, the first of several murders. The cast is quarantined in the theatre, and the police investigation is led by Lt. Frank Cioffi, a community theatre aficionado in his off-time, who proves himself as interested in fixing the troubled musical as solving the murders. Of course, he accomplishes both tasks! The score for Curtains runs the gamut from witty patter songs, to rich ballads and lots of exciting, full ensemble numbers. Because Curtains may not be well-known to some of you, a complete story synopsis can be found at: http://www.theatricalrights.com/curtains

Please prepare and provide the following for your audition:

  • 16-32 bars of music that showcases your vocal range.
  • Backing tracks (CD or Bluetooth) or a cappella numbers acceptable.
  • Shoes and clothing appropriate for a dance audition
  • Reading sides from the Script are here https://tinyurl.com/LSCCurtains-sides

Roles in “Curtains” – 24+ considering all ethnicities Age range is flexible

  • LT. FRANK CIOFFI (30s-40s): Boston detective, also musical theatre aficionado. Good at his job, he has also aspired to be a musical theatre performer his entire life. Falls in love with Niki. Strong comic skills, major singing, some dance; vocal range: A-flat-E.
  • BOBBY PEPPER (20s to early 30s) The choreographer and lead dancer; Strong singer who dances well, A-E.
  • PLUS members of the “Robbin’ Hood” company, with a LOT to do! This is a big show for dance, and great ensemble work!
