Character Breakdown: listed ages are stage ages

GEORGE HAY – (50s-60s) A pompous actor with a flair for the dramatic, George finds himself having to juggle multiple women and multiple plays at the same time. A ham and an over-actor.

CHARLOTTE HAY – (50s-60s) Charlotte is George’s wife, a much more practical person than the unsteady George but also possesses a stubborn and vindictive streak.

ETHEL – (60s-80s) Charlotte’s mother. Performs all manner of odd jobs around the theatre while muttering to herself. Extremely hard of hearing.

ROSALIND – (20s-30s) George & Charlotte’s daughter. Grew up in the theatre and still has it running through her veins, but is trying to escape the endless drama of her parents’ theatrical circus and find a life that’s more ordinary.

HOWARD –  (20s-30s) Rosalind’s fiance. A weatherman. Cheerful and upbeat but sorely lacking in personality.

EILEEN – (20s) A young actress in George & Charlotte’s company. Had a fling with George. Takes the stage very seriously but is not incredibly mature and doesn’t handle adversity well.

PAUL – (20s-30s) Stage manager for George & Charlottes company. Rosalind’s ex-fiance. Does the best he can to keep the machine running and keep the craziness in check.

RICHARD – (40s-60s) A lawyer friend of Charlotte’s who is very much in love with her. Very classy and sophisticated.
