TRANSMIGRATION Festival of New Works Returns to CCM March 7-9

Tickets for the 10th Anniversary edition of CCM’s TRANSMIGRATION Festival become available at noon on Monday, March 5 through the CCM Box Office.

CCM presents six original works in the Acting Department’s TRANSMIGRATION Festival: Nightlight, Flipping Channels, Price of Admission, Powder Train, Everyman and Underneath Paoli, Arizona. Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, the annual festival runs March 7-9, 2018 throughout CCM Village.

TRANSMIGRATION gives CCM Acting students the freedom to produce an entirely new show from start to finish. The teams are tasked with writing, designing and producing a 30-minute piece of theatre all on their own.

Co-produced by CCM Acting Chair Richard Hess and Professor Brant Russell, this unique festival has presented 60 original productions over the past 10 years. The shows are performed simultaneously and in non-traditional spaces throughout CCM’s Corbett Center for the Performing Arts. Attendees may customize their personal theater-going experience by viewing up to four shows of their choice throughout the evening.

Auditions Announced for THE FOREGINER at Lebanon Theatre Company

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the play, and we welcome auditioners of all experience levels!

The story takes place in a fishing lodge in rural Tilghman County, Georgia where two Englishmen, Froggy and Charlie, arrive as guests. The shy Charlie agreed to accompany Froggy on the trip after his sick wife begged him to go. When people at the lodge try to talk to Charlie, however, he remains silent: he is terribly shy, depressed about his wife’s illness, and cannot find the words to reply. Froggy claims that Charlie cannot talk because he is a “foreigner” from an exotic country, and does not understand English. Taking the explanation that he’s a non-English speaker as fact, the lodge’s guests quickly begin revealing their secrets, and Charlie soon discovers scandals amongst some of the residents of the lodge.

CHARACTER LIST:

  • Charlie Baker – a meek proofreader for a science fiction magazine; he has a merrily adulterous wife whom he loves. He is witty and funny while also very smart. He is extremely shy but living at the lodge and being in contact with such wonderful people, Charlie soon comes out of his shell and eventually finds himself the center of attention as the hero.

  • S/Sgt. “Froggy” LeSueur – a cheerful British Army man who teaches the use of explosives

  • Betty Meeks – an elderly widow who owns a resort lodge and mothers her guests. She has a fun, sarcastic nature, but she is very nurturing to all who come in contact with her. She is a hard worker, and her weak body carries all of the work she has done throughout the years.

  • Rev. David Marshall Lee – engaged to Catherine and, “it would appear, a good young man to have on our side”.[3] He comes in and out of the play and always seems like a charmer when the ladies are around. When it is just him alone with Charlie however, he begins to show his true colors.

  • Catherine Simms – a pretty heiress going through an emotional time. She is kind and caring towards Ellard and quickly shows Charlie the same attention.

  • Ellard Simms – Catherine’s dim-witted brother, heir to half the family money if Catherine decides he is “smart enough to handle it”. He is a kind, gentle hearted man but no one really gives him the time of day until Charlie comes into the picture. Charlie not only helps Ellard become more in tune with really how bright he is, but is also taught by Ellard what it means to be patient and lighthearted.

  • Owen Musser – a superstitious, dangerous racist man that lives in town.

  • Various Townspeople

3. Audition times include:

  • Saturday, May 12, 2018 @ 11am, Noon, 1pm and 2pm.
  • Sunday, May 13, 2018 @ 6:30pm, 7:30 pm, and 8:30 pm.
  • Monday, May 14, 2018 @ 6:30pm, 7:30 pm, and 8:30 pm.

4. It is important you arrive 15-20 minutes BEFORE your scheduled audition time to fill out paperwork.

5. Please prepare a song from a musical theater show that best represents your singing voice (please bring sheet music for our accompanist).
Please note: Do not expect to sing a cappella or with pre-recorded music.

6. Dress appropriately as you will be required to complete a dance audition.

7. You will be asked to read from the script as well.

All auditionees must complete all three parts of the audition process (singing, reading script, dancing). If all areas are not completed, then he/she will not be considered for a role in the show.

Participation Fee: All participants (on stage and off) are required to pay a participation fee for this summer program. Fee will be due at the first rehearsal: $175.00 for performers (includes costume and show t-shirt); $50.00 for Techies (includes show t-shirt).

Attention Techies: Interviews will be set up for those interested in working tech for this production. Please Note: A limited amount of funds are in place to assist with the participation fee. Funds are distributed on a confidential basis. Everyone is encouraged to audition, regardless of ability to pay! Choosing the cast of the show is based upon talent, enthusiasm and availability only. Ability to pay the participation fee is never a factor in casting decisions.

The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall.

What is CYPT? Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre (CYPT) provides a summer of great experience for performers and techies alike. Many of our members are now professional actors, singers, dancers, technicians and musicians. Others are Drama, Opera, Music Theatre, Voice, Music and Broadcasting majors at colleges all over the country. To date, over 2,200 teens have been a part of CYPT!

CYPT has produced 36 years of exciting shows, including: Jesus Christ Superstar, Footloose, 42nd Street, Children of Eden, Hello Dolly, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Anything Goes, The Pajama Game, Godspell,
Les Miserables, Crazy For You, The Wedding Singer, Grease, Footloose, Hairspray, West Side Story, Beauty and the Beast and many more!

CYPT is the recipient of the Post-Corbett Award for Outstanding Arts Organization, plus, the National Recreation and Parks Arts and Humanities Award, and the Ohio State Award for Best Student Program.

CYPT brings together 100 teens each summer, on stage and off. In 2015, participants came from 38 different schools, from all over the Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana region.

CYPT is for you! The teenage performer/techie interested in three things: 1) Theatrical Experience; 2) A Summer project with a difference; 3) A lot of new friends with the same interests.

Part Time Ticketing Specialist Sought by The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati

TCT’s mission is to educate, entertain and engage audiences of all ages through professional theatrical productions and arts education programming.  We fulfill our mission through three primary programs:

  • TCT MainStage at the Taft Theatre – We welcome 107,000 children, teachers, and family members from across the Tri-State, to one of our four family-friendly and professional musical theater productions at the historic Taft.
  • TCT On Tour – We see over 66,000 children and their families at one of our touring performances or during an arts-integration workshop or residency.

Position Overview:

The Ticketing Specialist will assist the organization in fulfilling its mission of educating, entertaining and engaging audiences of all ages through professional theatrical productions and arts education programming.

The Ticketing Specialist of The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati (TCT) reports directly to the Box Office Manager.  

Responsibilities:

The Ticket Office Specialist shall be responsible for:

  • Processing Season Ticket Orders.
  • Selling Single Ticket Orders.
  • Answering phone/email.
  • Assisting customers at the Ticket Office in our Red Bank Road location and the Box Office window at the Taft Theatre during performance dates.

The Ticketing Specialist’s duties include assisting in all aspects of the ticket office, including but not limited to:

  • Audit
    • Daily balancing of season and single ticket sales.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable
    • Process payments for season and single ticket accounts.
  • Other
    • All other duties and responsibilities related to the function of the ticket office as assigned.

In fulfilling his/her duties, the Ticketing Specialist will:

  • Work closely with the Box Office Manager and Sales Director to fulfill the mission of TCT.
  • Be an advocate for TCT in the community.
  • Consistently and accurately articulate the philosophy and policies of TCT to the staff, patrons, and general public.

Ideal and Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Prefer Ticketmaster selling experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Able to work irregular hours and weekends in addition to regular business hours.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $10.00 – $12.00 per hour.
  • Flexible schedule.
