MIRROR BALL New Year’s Eve Celebration | Tue., Dec. 31 | Cincinnati Music Hall Ballroom

CAA_Mirror Ball logoCINCINNATI, OH – The Cincinnati Arts Association is pleased to announce the inaugural Mirror Ball New Year’s Eve celebration to benefit historic Music Hall. Take a look into the rearview as you celebrate another decade gone by and dance the night away into a brand new year! Experience a fantastical New Year’s Eve adventure surrounded by the beauty of one of Cincinnati’s most historic and beloved performance venues. Part futuristic disco, part reflection of our past, Mirror Ball promises an evening of spectacle, not to mention dancing, drinking, and late night eating. The event is restricted to ages 21 and older. The event begins at 9pm.

Hit the dance floor with DJ ETrayn, enjoy a specialty New Year’s Eve craft cocktail created by Cincinnati’s own Molly Wellmann, be amazed with performances by Elevated Aerialists, and discover plenty of other surprises!

Tickets go on sale Friday, December 6 at 10:00 AM at CincinnatiArts.org, (513) 621-2787 [ARTS}, and the Aronoff Center and Music Hall Ticket Offices.

  • General Admission: $100 (in advance) / $125 (day of) – includes open bar, lite bites, party favors, and entertainment
  • VIP: $150 (in advance) / $175 (day of) – includes exclusive private lounge, private open bar, VIP wines by Kevin Hart of Hart & Cru, lite bites, party favors, and entertainment

All proceeds benefit historic Music Hall.

Auditions Announced for MOMUS AND APHRODITE at CenterStage Players

MOMUS AND APHRODITE is an original comedy by local playwright Fred Rothzeid.

Aphrodite, Goddess of Beauty, Pleasure and Love is informed by Momus, God of Criticism, Satire and Blame that to remain a goddess she must find a man willing to ‘die for her’. Will she succeed? Does love conquer all? More importantly, can two Greek gods find happiness in small town America?

  • Momus…..God of Criticism, Satire and Blame
  • Aphrodite…..Goddess of Beauty, Pleasure and Love
  • Herc (Harold)…..Attractive man about 30

Synopsis
A Catered Affair tells the story of a Bronx mother’s efforts to give her only daughter the elaborate wedding she never had – and the bride never asked for. In this funny, poignant and oh, so human show of love and disaffection, Harvey Fierstein’s book and John Bucchino’s score explore both our need for love and true meaning of family. The Broadway production received 12 Drama Desk Award nominations, the most of any show of the 2007-2008 season, and was chosen as Best Musical by the New York Drama League.

Kick off your holiday season with the Nowaks of Buffalo, NY. Clara and her three adult children have always known they were special, ever since the miraculous Christmas Eve in 1942 when the Blessed Mother appeared to Grandpa in his barbershop!

When Ruth unveils her plan to write and star in a one-woman Christmas show about the family miracle so the world will know, however, as her plans unfold, the entire family’s faith is shaken to the very core when a deathbed confession causes the family legend to unravel. The results are heartfelt and hilarious.

Auditions Announced for SEUSSICAL at Inspiring Arts Productions

Come, audition! Take a chance!
We will be casting students in 3rd through 12th grade ​for our spring musical, SEUSSICAL!

Auditions will be held by appointment
December 10 and 12, 2019, at Life Church West Chester.
Audition appointments are made on the audition form below.

​Callbacks will be Saturday, December 14, at Life Church West Chester.

Expectations for the cast (word.doc)

Performances will be at Parrish Auditorium
(Miami University in Hamilton)

  • Thursday, March 26 at 7pm
  • Friday, March 27 at 2pm
  • Friday, March 27 at 7pm
  • Saturday, March 28 at 2pm
  • Saturday, March 28 at 7pm
  • Sunday, March 29 at 3pm

Rehearsals begin January 4, 2020, and will be scheduled on Tues/Thurs between 4p and 9pm, and Saturdays between noon and 4pm. Not every actor will be called for the entirety of every rehearsal.

NO conflicts will be accepted during tech week.

How to Audition

  1. Prepare your audition ​
    SINGING – **You may sing a cappella or provide your own track. We will have speakers available.**

    For students in 3rd-4th grade: Please sing the one-minute portion (app. from 1:05-2:04) of “Oh the Thinks You Can Think” found in the YouTube clip.

    For students in 5th-12th grade: Please perform 1-2 minutes of any upbeat Broadway song (may include any song from SEUSSICAL).

    If you would like to be considered for Cat in the Hat, Jojo, Gertrude, Horton, Mayzie, or the Kangaroo, please also plan to perform one minute of that character’s song.

    MONOLOGUE
    ALL students–regardless of age–should prepare one monologue from the monologue sheet (Word doc). Memorize it and perform it with all the seuss-ish dramatical flair you can muster!

  2. Fill out and submit the theater form (online form).
    Fill it out as completely as possible, noting all conflicts and giving us as much info as you can!

    NOTE:
    ONLY conflicts noted on this form will be considered excused absences once the show is cast!! It is very important that you are thorough. Please read the conflict portion of the theater form VERY CAREFULLY and fill it out completely.
    ALL tech week rehearsals are mandatory!!

    CALLBACKS
    Please keep Saturday, December 14, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm open!
    We might need to see some actors again after the initial auditions. Most will not need to be present the full time.
    If we would like to see you dance or hear you sing again, you will be notified by noon on Friday, December 13.
