MCP_sm logo

Mason Community Players is auditioning its summer musical, ANNIE GET YOUR GUN online!

This light-hearted telling of the life of sharpshooter Annie Oakley, born and raised in Southwest Ohio, is slated to grace the stage in July.

The cast includes 14 principals, an additional 8 named roles, and a large ensemble portraying the performers in two Wild West Shows, New York socialites, and avid fans from cities across the country.

Since the show is in July, there are not plans at this time to cancel or postpone.

MCP will continue to monitor the current situation and will inform the theatre community as soon as possible about plans for this show.

To Audition:

  1. Please fill out and submit the online audition form.
  2. Please prepare an uptempo song showing your musical range; one which is not from the score of ANNIE GET YOUR GUN.
Those under 10 who audition may sing a song from memory. (It can be as simple as “Happy Birthday” or be more complex such as a song from a favorite Disney movie.) Video yourself in a full body shot performing the song. Consider it your opportunity to impress the audition panel.
  3. Prepare a resume that includes your theatrical training and experience. Please be specific about your experience in the field of dance. Have you had dance training? If so, in which styles and at what level? For how long have you studied dance and with whom? Do you have collegiate training in dance? Is your experience in dance from doing shows? Please list all shows in which you were required to dance, the role in that show and if you were a featured dancer.
  4. Supply a head shot – it can be a selfie. This is mostly for organization purposes to identify all those interested.
  5. Click here to access the audition form.
  6. Submit the resume and the photo to agyg@masonplayers.org

Complete the submissions by April 20, 2020.

Rehearsals will tentatively begin in mid-May.

Irving Berlin’s Classic ANNIE GET YOUR GUN Opens at Footlighters, Inc. April 23, 2020

FLI_Annie Get Your Gun logoFootlighters, Inc. proudly presents the last show of its 2019-2020 season, the classic Annie Get Your Gun.

Annie Oakley is the best shot around, and she manages to support her younger siblings by selling the game she hunts. When she’s discovered by Col. Buffalo Bill, he persuades the novel sharpshooter to join his Wild West Show. It only takes one glance for her to fall head over heels for dashing shooting ace Frank Butler, who headlines the show. Annie soon eclipses Frank as the main attraction which, while good for business, is bad for romance. Will her success with a gun jeopardize Annie’s chance at love?

Featuring classic songs such as “Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better)” and “There’s No Business Like Show Business”, the rousing, sure-fire finale hits the mark every time in a testament to the power of female ingenuity.

Annie Get Your Gun marks the Footlighters’ debut of veteran director Gina Kleesattel. Gina spent the last 20 years teaching musical theatre, drama, arts administration, and stage management at SCPA as well as directing over 20 musicals. Prior to SCPA, she was a stage manager, director, writer, and producer for 22 years at numerous venues, including: Showboat Majestic, Cincinnati Zoo Festival of Lights, Kincaid Regional Theatre, Ovation Theatre, Kings Productions Parks, and Carowinds Theme Park. Annie Get Your Gun is a family affair for Gina as she is joined by her brother and longtime Footlighters’ bassist Chuck Kleesattel playing in the show’s orchestra, and her son Alan Kleesattel as the show’s lighting designer.

Performances:

  • Thursday-Saturday, April 23-25 at 7:30pm
  • Sunday, April 26 at 2:00pm
  • Thursday-Saturday, April 30- May 2 at 7:30pm

Audiences can look forward to athletic and innovative new works from Cincinnati Ballet Artistic Director Victoria Morgan and Resident Choreographer Jennifer Archibald, as well as a provocative piece from choreographer Dana Genshaft. Two Cincinnati Ballet dancers will also premiere works chosen during our annual Choreographer’s Workshop.

The plucky heroine’s good deeds awaken a magical transformation thanks to a little help from her fairy godmother. Laugh out loud with the riotous stepsisters, hilariously performed by male dancers, and marvel as an ordinary pumpkin becomes a spectacular carriage. The audience even becomes a part of the story in this clever production. Elegant and with a twist of humor, Victoria Morgan’s choreography is paired delightfully with the charming music of Sergei Prokofiev. Enjoy Cinderella at the Aronoff Center for the Arts October 22-November 1, 2020.

CB_Nutcracker 20Create a cherished family tradition in the Land of Sweets! The distinct costumes unify the disparate themes of each jewel –the French romanticism of Emeralds, danced to Fauré’s dreamy score; Stravinsky’s Modernist, high energy score for Rubies; and Tchaikovsky’s regal classicism, evoking the imperial court of Russia in DiamondsThis is the first time Cincinnati Ballet will perform all three ‘jewel’ acts together.

CB_The Little Mermaid logoTake a magical journey under the sea with our Family Series: The Little Mermaid February 26-28, 2021 at the Aronoff Center for the Arts.
