2020 Summer Festival Cancelled by Cincinnati Opera

co_logoTo our dearest friends,

We write to you today with the news that, as a result of the coronavirus crisis, we are forced to cancel our 2020 Summer Festival.

This is particularly difficult to share with you now, on the eve of our 100th anniversary celebration. At this moment, however, the trajectory of the pandemic is unknown. Public orders currently prevent our artists, production crews, and staff from safely assembling to prepare for our season, a process that begins months in advance of opening night. We have followed guidance from public health experts while maintaining hope that we could move forward, but it is now clear we are not able to do so. With the uncertainty surrounding the resumption of public gatherings, it is our responsibility to act in favor of the continued well-being of our audiences, artists, staff, and community.

Like many other professionals, those who make their living performing and producing art have been directly impacted by this pandemic. And while we are heartbroken to have lost the opportunity to showcase their remarkable artistry this year, we are equally concerned about their well-being. That’s why we are committed to providing a level of compensation to all of the nearly 400 professionals who appear onstage and work backstage to make the season happen—from singers and musicians to stage technicians and craftspersons. We are also committed to keeping our extraordinary year-round staff intact.

We invite you to help support this effort by donating the value of your 2020 tickets back to Cincinnati Opera. The Harry T. Wilks Family Foundation, Nanci Wilks Lanni & Nick Lanni, and Barbara Wilks have generously established an Artists Relief Matching Gift Fund to match all ticket donations dollar for dollar. By choosing to donate the value of your 2020 tickets, you will provide important relief to our community of artists and ensure the longevity of the company. As a special thank-you for your tax-deductible donation, you will receive recognition and benefits for the value of your gift during our 2021 season.

OLIVER! Cancelled at Rotary Presents

RP_100 logoWe regret to announce that this year’s production of OLIVER! previously postponed in March has now been canceled.

Since the show was postponed only a week prior to the first performance due to the coronavirus pandemic, many production-related expenses such as costume purchases and set construction had already been incurred.

Ticket holders may opt to receive a full refund of their purchase price or donate the ticket value back to the Hamilton Rotary Club to help offset these costs. If you wish to request a refund, please contact Club Administrator Shannon Nieman at rotaryhamiltonoh@gmail.com or 513-341-8072. If you wish to donate your tickets, no action is required at this time and we thank you for your support.

The Hamilton Rotary club has enjoyed 65 years of Rotary Presents productions that help to raise more than $10,000 annually to fund scholarships for high school seniors in our community. Our club truly appreciates all the preparation of more than 70 cast members, musicians, and stage crew for OLIVER! who have worked since December to prepare for opening night. We are grateful to director Rodney Neal; co-producers Mandy Gambrell and Angie Neal; and set construction/design team Mary and Larry Slocum for everything they contributed to make this show another successful production for our club. We hope to feature some of the talented artists in their roles in the future!

May Production of MAMA WON’T FLY Cancelled at Fairfield Footlighters

fflTo Our Patrons,

As government-mandated bans in relation to the COVID-19 health crisis are pushed later into the calendar, the Fairfield Footlighters Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel our May production, MAMA WON’T FLY. We made this decision in agreement with the staff of our home venue, the Fairfield Community Arts Center.

We refuse to risk the safety of our patrons, cast and crew, and FCAC staff. Therefore, cancelling this production is in the interest of all. Fairfield Footlighters intend to comply fully with the Governor’s orders and do our part to help flatten the curve so we can return to the Fairfield Community Arts Center stage with a fabulous 2020-21 season.

Season Subscribers who renew their subscription for 2020-21 Season will receive a discounted rate of 4 shows of the price of 3.

Patrons who held single tickets to MAMA WON’T FLY will receive a voucher for any Fairfield Footlighters show in our 2020-21 Season. If a single-ticket patron purchases a Season Subscription for 2020-21, they will receive the same discount as renewing Subscribers – 4 shows for the price of 3 – instead of a voucher.

Thank you for your understanding in our decision. Stay tuned for the announcement of our 2020-21 Season!

Regards,
Fairfield Footlighters Board of Directors

2020-2021 Season Updated at Cincy Shakes

CSC_logoCincinnati Shakespeare Company is thrilled to announce that the 2020-2021 Season will now open with our much awaited production of HAMLET featuring Sara Clark Rose as Hamlet and will close with a reopening of our production of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. The past season was The Season of the Woman and our productions of HAMLET and “Pride and Prejudice” were centerpieces of this initiative. When we had to close and cancel these productions, we keenly felt their loss. So, today we are thrilled to share that we are now planning to bring these productions back to share with audiences next season!

HAMLET will be in place of the previously planned production of NETWORK which will be moved to a future season. And with so many unknowns still this summer, we have also made the decision to postpone the planned July 2020 production of BORN YESTERDAY.

This means that Cincinnati Shakespeare Company’s Grand Reopening and start of the 2020-2021 Season will be with HAMLET from August 28 – September 26, 2020 and will close with PRIDE AND PREJUDICE from June 4 – July 3, 2021.
