Auditions Announced for BLITHE SPIRIT at Mason Community Players

Auditions for Blithe Spirit, the second show of Mason Community Players’ 2025 Season, will be on January 25th and 26th, from 2pm to 5pm at the Mason Community Playhouse.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

The show is set in the mid-1930’s in England. Accents are not required for auditions but a willingness to learn for the show is needed. An accent coach will be part of the show’s crew.

A smash comedy hit, this much-revived classic concerns cantankerous novelist Charles Condomine who has remarried but finds himself haunted (literally) by the ghost of his late first wife, Elvira, who is called up by a visiting medium, the eccentric Madame Arcati. Clever, insistent, and well aware of Charles’ shortcomings, Elvira clashes with Charles’ current wife, Ruth, who is not about to give him up without a fight creating a ghostly affair of the heart

The characters include:
Edith – a maid in training, eager to please, age: 20+
Ruth – Charles’ current wife, practical and sensible, age: 40+
Charles – Writer, husband to Ruth and, before her death, Elvira, egotistical and arrogant, age: 40+
Dr. Bradman – Friend and family doctor, kindly, age: 40+
Mrs. Bradman – Dr. Bradman’s wife, friend, kind but thoughtless, age: 40+
Madame Arcati – Psychic, confident and determined, age: 40+
Elvira – Charles’ deceased first wife, physically attractive and seductive, age: 30+

Blithe Spirit  will be presented April 25th through May 3rd. The show is being directed by Susan Berger, produced by Eric Grimm, and stage managed by Dana Davis.
