Directors Sought for 2022-2023 Season at The Footlighters, Inc.

FLI_Directors 2022-2023Directors sought for the 2022-2023 season at The Footlighters, Inc. in Newport, KY.

The Footlighters, Inc. is accepting submissions for directors for the 2022-2023 season. Interested directors must submit an application and a theatrical resume. Directors will be allowed to submit up to two productions for consideration. One of those productions must come from a list of shows selected by Footlighters, and one can be of the applicant’s choosing. All submissions will be considered equally regardless of whether they are from the list of potential productions or independently selected by the director.

We are seeking directorial candidates who feel they can bring a fresh and inclusive perspective to the shows they’ve submitted, and we encourage directors from diverse backgrounds, whether you’ve directed for Footlighters before or not, to apply.

Please visit https://www.footlighters.org/directors-submissions-2022-2023 to download your application and to view the list of potential shows.

All submissions must be emailed to the Season/Director Committee Chair, Chad Brinkman, at Footlighters.Director.Submission@gmail.com. The deadline to submit materials is Sunday, October 17, 2021. Interested directors will be contacted to schedule interviews for the week of October 18 or 25. Interviews will take place at the Stained Glass Theatre or will be conducted virtually via Zoom.

We will produce a four-show season for 2022-2023. Each production will have 14 performances in our very own Stained Glass Theatre.

A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder and its accompanying director have been previously selected to fill one of these production openings. Therefore, we will be selecting three directors and three productions to complete the season.

Should you have additional questions or need assistance, please email Footlighters.Director.Submission@gmail.com, and we will be happy to help.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – Northern Kentucky University’s School of the Arts presents Harvey Fierstein’s TORCH SONG as the start of their 21/22 Theatre + Dance academic season. TORCH SONG will run Sept. 29-Oct. 9, 2021 at NKU’s Stauss Theatre. TORCH SONG is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., a Concord Theatricals Company.

  • What: “Torch Song” by Harvey Fierstein
  • When: Sept. 29-Oct. 9, 2021
  • Where: NKU Stauss Theatre
  • Tickets: nku.edu/sotatickets

TORCH SONG is the two-act revival of Harvey Fierstein’s Tony Award-winning Torch Song Trilogy. The life of Arnold Beckoff, a torch song-singing, Jewish drag queen living in New York City, is dramatized over the span of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Told with a friendly, human voice, Torch Song follows Arnold’s odyssey to find happiness in New York. Along the way, Arnold experiences love, loss, and misadventure. A visit from his overbearing mother reminds him that he needs one thing more: respect.

The NKU cast features Gabriela Barbosa Paul, Alec Harrison, Emily Hilbrecht, Nick Rohr, Evan Rogers, and Jayvon Shack; understudies are Linnzie Hays and Elizabeth J. McClure. The show is directed by Michael Hatton. The Music Director is Damon Stevens. The Stage Manager is Alyssa Taylor and Assistant Stage Managers are Julie Fellinger and Savanah Scott.
