Three Step Procedure For Submitting a Play for Production at Loveland Stage Company

LSC_logoStep One:  The director will submit in writing, a short (60 words or less), summary of the action

of the play or musical.  Following the summary, the director will describe his or her background in the theater and explain their unique qualifications for directing their play.  Proposals for the coming season (June 1, 2021 thru May 31, 2022) must be submitted in writing to the board by May 31, 2021 to be assured consideration for the season.

Step Two:  If the director’s proposal is approved, the director will complete a detailed production plan and submit the plan to the board, in person, for their approval.  An example of a production plan is as follows:

  1.  List all the characters in the play or musical and give a brief description of their age and type.
  2. What is your overall concept of the play?
  3. Describe your vision of the set and costumes.
  4. How much rehearsal time will you need for this play?
  5. Will you need extra production assistants, e.g. assistant director, assistant music director, vocal coach?
  6. Do you have a proposed budget for the production?
  7. Are there any exception costs associated with this production? (orchestra or musicians, etc.)
  8. Do you have scheduling concerns regarding your availability?  In other words, when would you be available to direct this production?

The board will consider the plan and suggest possible revisions to the play.

Step Three:  Revisions may be made to the plan and the board makes a final determination regarding the play/musical.

LOVELAND STAGE COMPANY GUIDELINES FOR SELECTING DIRECTORS

These guidelines are intended as suggestions for directors who wish to direct at the Loveland Stage Company.  We may consider other factors that the board deems necessary in determining the choice of either directors or shows for the coming season.

  1.  Potential directors must be members of the Loveland Stage Company for at least one year prior to submitting a play for consideration
  2. Potential directors must have participated in at least two major shows at the Loveland Stage Company

Mail Submission to:
Pat Furterer
106 Pewter Court
Loveland, OH 45140

If your submission is only 1-2 pages, you may email to:  rpfurterer@fuse.net.

The Carnegie to Host Portrait Fundraiser

TC_logo_newCincinnati’s Favorite Theatre Photographer Hosts Fundraiser for The Carnegie

COVINGTON, KY – You’re so pretty, you ought to be in pictures – and there’s no better place for a new portrait than The Carnegie’s theatre. It’s for a good cause, too!

Cincinnati’s favorite theatre photographer, Mikki Schaffner is offering limited portrait sessions at The Carnegie between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13 and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2021. Each 40-minute session is $250 and guests will receive 15-25 images from their shoot. Make-up artist services will also be available for an additional $100 per person.

More than half of the costs from each portrait session will go to support The Carnegie’s Theatre Series. The Carnegie Theatre Series produces professional, innovative stagings of an eclectic range of theatrical works. Striving to unite the greater Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati theatre community through partnerships and collaborations, the series engages and nurtures both emerging and established talent, including working professionals, committed part-time theatre artists, university performing arts students and younger students.

“This fundraiser was Mikki’s idea. Her ability to capture life’s best moments, even in this time of social distancing, makes this an incredible opportunity for the public – how could we say no?,” said Maggie Perrino Theatre Director at the Carnegie. “Creative funding opportunities like this as well as The Carnegie’s Creative Disruption Committee programming strengthens our organization and assists us in continuing to share the arts with the community.”

A limited number of sessions are available and are expected to sell out quickly. Book your session today by contacting The Carnegie Box Office, Tuesday–Friday between noon to 5 p.m. in person, by phone at (859) 957-1940 or online at www.thecarnegie.com.
