(COVINGTON, KY) – The Carnegie is turning theatre on its head once again at the third annual Carnegie Miscast. On Saturday, September 28, theatre stars from across the region will take to the stage for Miscast at the Movies, to perform beloved songs from well-known roles in which they would never be cast.

From Disney classics like The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and Aladdin, to favorites like Singing in the Rain and The Wizard of Oz, to newer hits including The Greatest Showman and Moulin Rouge, the lineup is stacked with songs the audience will know and love.

“This year’s Miscast event is an ode to the movies,” said Carnegie Theatre Director Maggie Perrino. “Audiences will see men taking on Part of Your World, women tackling Gaston, and our whole cast poking a little fun at an upcoming feline-focused movie musical.”

The performers will take on songs they’d normally never get a chance to perform. Whether it’s because they’re too old, too young, or the wrong gender, the cabaret-style evening gives them the opportunity to perform their favorite songs in front of an audience. Performers include Maddie Vaughn (most recently appeared in The Carnegie’s production of AMERICAN IDIOT), Lesley Hitch (last seen in The Carnegie’s production of THE WIZARD OF OZ), Dain Paige (most recently appeared in The Carnegie’s production of WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY), and Sharisse Santos (most recently appeared in The Carnegie’s production of DREAMGIRLS). The evening will once again be emceed by Spenser Smith.

Tickets to Carnegie Miscast are $25, $22 for Carnegie Members and can be purchased through The Carnegie Box Office at 859.957.1940, open Tuesday through Friday, noon to 5:00 p.m., or online at www.thecarenegie.com.

The 2019-20 Carnegie Theatre Series is presented by the Otto M. Budig Family Foundation. Additional support comes from the Kentucky Department of Tourism.
