Auditions Announced for ALMOST, MAINE at Tree County Players

On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.

Many roles of varying sizes are available. Audition package and more information may be found here. Show dates are April 28 and 29.

Auditions Announced for OLIVER! at Queen City Productions

QCP_logoQueen City Productions will be holding auditions for its spring production of OLIVER! OLIVER! is the classic tale of the orphan who is welcomed into the charismatic Fagin’s gang. With the help of Dodger, Nancy and others he must find his place in the world. It’s a classic show told with a modern twist!

Auditions will be:

  • Friday, February 24th from 6:30-9:30pm at St. Bartholomew Parish
  • Saturday, February 25th from 1-4:30pm at St. Bartholomew Parish
  • Sunday, February 26th from 1-4pm at Cunningham Dance Studio, 631 Reading Rd, Mason, OH 45040

Invited Callbacks will be Sunday, February 26th from 6-9pm at Cunningham Dance Studio

Auditionees should be at least 8 years old and able to read from a script. Everyone should prepare a portion of a song from the musical theater genre that best respresents your vocal ability as well as your personality. There will not be an accompanist, so auditionees may sing acapella or with backing track on cd or device that can be plugged in via an aux cord. Auditionees will also be asked to read from the script. There will be a short dance combination as well so please dress appropriately.

Performance dates will be April 27th-30th and May 4th-7th
Rehearsals will begin March 3rd.
Rehearsals will be Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings

Re-Enactors Needed for Bockfest Tours

MISC_Casting call2The OTR Brewery district an opportunity for 1 or 2 women to be re-enactors during the official Bockfest Tours on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, the 4th and 5th of March. The time will be approximately 12 noon to 5 pm.

The role would be that of a gossipy hausfrau (German not required). You would be stationed in an indoor space and have about a 10-minute spiel that you would give 5 times a day (one day or both days) as tour groups come through. The story will be friendly, informal and chatty.

A script will be provided- it will be a monologue about people and events in OTR circa 1890s. We will assist you with obtaining a costume and other stage-related issues. Contact Marcha Hunley at mhunley@fuse.net.

The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati Plans a Memorable 2017-2018 Season

TCTC_new logoCincinnati – The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s 93rd season will be one to remember, as TCT brings Tri-state families six fantastical productions they won’t soon forget.

At the Taft Theatre, a boy that won’t grow up, a princess in glass slippers, a band of animal friends and a magical nanny will all prove that dreams really do come true if you make a wish and believe in yourself.

Plus, at the new TCT facility on Red Bank Road, a large hat-wearing cat and a brave polka-dotted girl will each share two amazing and important adventures with audiences in the debut season of the Showtime Series at Red Bank.

MADAGASCAR: A Musical Adventure

Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, Madagascar: A Musical Adventure follows all of your favorite crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.

MARY POPPINS

Jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins is an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs, breathtaking dance numbers and astonishing stagecraft.

New subscriptions to the 2017-2018 Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati MainStage season at the Taft Theatre will be available in early June after existing subscription renewals are completed. Important to note: The Children’s Theatre’s four Broadway-style MainStage productions will continue to be performed in the historic Taft Theatre in downtown Cincinnati. The 2016-2017 MainStage season is poised to break records for the organization with MainStage attendance currently topping 97,000.

About the New Showtime Series at Red Bank:

The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati, the country’s oldest professional theater for young audiences, is excited to showcase its new destination for theater education and expand its reach into the community. The Ralph and Patricia Corbett Showtime Stage is a small 152-seat performance space housed in the company’s new facility on Red Bank Road.

“This new theatrical facility gives us the opportunity to program for new audiences, including preschoolers as well as middle and high school students,” said Kim Deaton, Managing Director and CEO. “Thus, we begin the creation of future arts patrons in Cincinnati at an even earlier age, and extend their engagement through high school. The Showtime Series will allow us to program the new space with more than 64 performances.”

POLKADOTS: The Cool Kids Musical
February 23-March 25, 2018

Polkadots follows 8-year-old Lily Polkadot who just moved to the “Squares Only” small town of Rockaway. As the first Polkadot in an all Square school, Lily faces an almost impossible task of gaining acceptance from her peers. From daily bullying, to segregated drinking fountains, Lily’s quest seems hopeless until she meets Sky, a shy Square boy whose curiosity for her unique polkadot skin blooms into an unexpected pal-ship. Inspired by Civil Rights pioneers Ruby Bridges and The Little Rock Nine, Polkadots serves as a colorful history lesson for the world, reminding us that our differences make us awesome, not outcasts.
