RECORD-BREAKING GROWTH PRIMES SEASON OF BROADWAY FAVORITES, TOP PROFESSIONAL AND RISING TALENT AT THE CARNEGIE

The Carnegie is pleased to announce its 2014-15 Theatre Series, slashing its way into the historic Otto M. Budig Theatre in August with the musical thriller SWEENEY TODD, co-produced with Northern Kentucky University’s Commonwealth Theatre Company. Hoke, a thoughtful, unemployed black man who couldn’t seem to have less in common with his wealthy, Jewish client. The world’s greatest love story takes to the streets in a landmark Broadway musical that is one of modern theatre’s finest accomplishments. Shakespeare’s ROMEO AND JULIET is transported to mid-century New York City, as young lovers Tony and Maria find themselves caught between warring street gangs.

With timeless songs including “Somewhere,” “Maria” and “Something’s Coming,” the masterful Bernstein & Sondheim score soars in a light staging in the spirit of the January 2014 hit THE SOUND OF MUSIC.

What does “light staging” mean? Audiences will see a small orchestra on stage, costumes, evocative lighting and modest scenic design. They will not see scripts in-hand or a multitude of props, scenic or costume changes.

Nine Performances:
Friday, January 9, 7:30pm ● Saturday, January 10, 2pm & 7:30pm ● Sunday, January 11, 3pm Thursday, January 15, 7:30pm ● Friday, January 16, 7:30pm ● Saturday, January 17, 2pm & 7:30pm Sunday, January 18, 3pm

by Steve Martin Adapted from Carl Sternheim

A riotous sex farce a la BOEING BOEING and IN THE NEXT ROOM, OR THE VIBRATOR PLAY, THE UNDERPANTS is the brainchild of celebrated comedian, actor and humorist Steve Martin.

About The Carnegie
THE CARNEGIE THEATRE SERIES produces professional, innovative stagings of an eclectic range of popular and rarely performed works. Striving to unite the greater Northern

Kentucky and Cincinnati theatre community through partnerships and collaborations, the series engages and nurtures both emerging and established talent, including working professionals, committed part-time theatre artists, university performing arts students and younger students. The Carnegie Theatre Series productions bring together these forces to provide quality theatre for Northern Kentucky and the Greater Cincinnati area.

THE CARNEGIE is a multidisciplinary arts venue serving the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati community. Over the course of the past ten years The Carnegie has “morphed” from a grassroots gallery with an education component into an all-inclusive arts organization offering professional theatre, art exhibitions showcasing the best of local and regional artists, and a comprehensive arts education program.

The Carnegie is home to The Carnegie Galleries, comprised of more than 6,000 square feet of gallery space where emerging and established artists exhibit in multiple shows throughout the year; the Eva G. Farris Education Center, which provides arts education to thousands of children, many of whom are at or below the poverty level; and the newly renovated 465-seat Otto M. Budig Theatre, which offers an affordable theatre space for local, up-and-coming and established production companies and is home to The Carnegie’s Theatre and Concert Series. The Carnegie is the largest arts venue in Northern Kentucky.

The Carnegie receives ongoing operating support from ArtsWave, Kenton County Fiscal Courts, the Kentucky Arts Council, Cincinnati Wine Festival, and the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile Jr. / US Bank Foundation.

Presented as part of the Cincinnati Fringe Festival ’14
Gateways to Healing
Over-the-Rhine

Reviews: CityBeat | BTC |

SOMETHING SOMETHING NEW VAGINA is a solo performance about loving one’s self and one’s body. It’s also about a vagina: Rebecca Kling’s fancy new vagina. Kling was last seen at CincyFringe in 2012 with Storms Beneath Her Skin; now she’s back (she was never one to call it clits) and is ready to tackle issues of identity without ovary-acting. Climaxing with a Strip Q&A, you’d be doing yourself a dis-cervix if you miss it.
