CINCINNATI, June 12, 2013— Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Cincinnati’s stage for the classics, is thrilled to present THE 39 STEPS adapted by Patrick Barlow, from the novel by John Buchan, from the movie of Alfred Hitchcock, playing July 19- August 11, 2013. This production is directed by CSC Producing Artistic Director, Brian Isaac Phillips and features CSC Resident Ensemble members, Billy Chace, Justin McCombs, Miranda McGee and Nicholas Rose. The design of this production is generously sponsored by Johnson Investment Counsel.

This runaway Broadway hit lands at CSC this summer. Alfred Hitchcock’s classic potboiler gets a tongue-in-cheek twist as four actors rocket their way through over 100 roles in a blood-tingling, and hilarious, tale of espionage and murder. Cincinnati audiences have raved about productions of “Every Christmas Story Ever Told” and “The Hound of the Baskervilles” that also feature small casts covering multiple characters in mystery-comedy adventures. They will not be disappointed by “The 39 Steps”. It’ll be an evening of comedy… to die for.

Director of “The 39 Steps”, Producing Artistic Director, Brian Isaac Phillips says “’The 39 Steps’ is an exceptional evening of theater. The play’s comic spin on the Hitchcock classic not only celebrates the cinema but showcases just how magical live theatre can be. This play deserves every accolade it has received at home and abroad and will be an evening to remember when it comes to life at our intimate home on Race Street.” Phillips continues, “I am also thrilled to be able to work with such an excellent cast. Our cast of four includes some of the funniest members of our ensemble.
