Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati’s “Good People” as a recommended production.

This regional premiere of a work by Pulitzer Prize winning writer David Lindsay-Abaire explores the struggles, shifting loyalties and unshakeable hopes that come with having next to nothing in America. Laid off from her job at the dollar store in South Boston, Margie Walsh goes to seek out the one who got away—both from “Southie” and from her. Instead, she finds herself in the ‘burbs and out of her element, facing the question: is opportunity granted or earned?

Panelists praised the production as “relevant to our time,” “moving,” and “incisive.” One commented, “All of the elements in this production – technical, acting, staging – worked perfectly.”

“Good People” continues through September 23rd. Tickets can be purchased at www.ensemblecincinnati.org.

Final LCT awards will be determined at the end of the season and announced at the LCT gala in the spring.

Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park’s “The Three Musketeers” with LCT nominations for fight choreography (Drew Fracher) and costumes (Bill Black) as well as distinguishing it as a recommended production.

In this adaptation of the classic Alexander Dumas swashbuckling tale, young Frenchman D’Artagnan and his plucky sister Sabine aspire to join the famed Musketeers, but get more than they bargained for when they stumble into the center of a bitter rivalry between King Louis and the evil Cardinal Richelieu.

Panelists praised Drew Facher’s fight choreography as “the highlight of the show — detailed, energetic, and integral to the action”; “the most and best swordplay I have ever seen”. Bill Black’s costumes were “sumptuous and intricate”, with “lush fabrics and correct details”. Overall, the panelists recommended the production as “a great adventure in theatre for the family”.

“The Three Musketeers” continues through September 29th. Tickets can be purchased at www.cincyplay.com.

Final LCT awards will be determined at the end of the season and announced at the LCT gala in the spring.

Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized Covedale Center for the Performing Arts’ CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF as a recommended production.

In this Tennessee William’s classic, a plantation house family celebrates the sixty-fifth birthday of its patriarch, Big Daddy. But the mood is tense, despite the festivities, as long-simmering evils poison the party. Greed, sins of the past and desperate clawing hopes for the future spar with one another as the knowledge that Big Daddy is dying slowly makes the rounds.

One panelist praised the production as “dynamic and layered.” Another commented that “I could feel that I was witnessing the family dynamics of a real family.”

CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF continues through September 30th. Tickets can be purchased at www.cincinnatilandmarkproductions.com/ccpa.

Final LCT awards will be determined at the end of the season and announced at the LCT gala in the spring.
