Showboat Majestic’s ROUNDING THIRD Earns LCT Recommendation

Mike Sherman as Don & Michael Schlotterbeck as Michael.

Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized Showboat Majestic’s ROUNDING THIRD as a recommended production.

ROUNDING THIRD introduces us to two little-league coaches — one a veteran, the other a new recruit — and their markedly different personal circumstances and philosophies about the game. Their clash of styles and wills drives this funny, acerbic and touching play through the bumpy terrain of fatherhood and baseball.

One panelist noted that the “comedic timing was spot on”. Another commented, “Both actors engaged the audience—we were the unseen baseball team—eliciting responses, laughs, and groans.”

ROUNDING THIRD continues through August 26th. Tickets can be purchased at www.cincinnatilandmarkproductions/sbm.

Final LCT awards will be determined at the end of the season and announced at the LCT gala in the spring.

The League of Cincinnati Theatres was founded in 1999 to strengthen, nurture and promote Cincinnati’s theatre community. LCT provides its member companies and individual members with education, resources and services to enhance the quality and exposure of the theatre community in Cincinnati and increase community awareness, attendance and involvement. The Carnegie’s XANADU Earns LCT Recommendation

The Muses of XANADU.

Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center’s XANADU as a recommended production.

In this light-hearted musical send-up of the 1980 movie, beautiful Greek muse Kira has journeyed from Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California in a quest to inspire struggling chalk artist Sonny to create the most resplendent and staggering work of art the world has ever known… the roller disco! The musical features feel-good ‘80’s pop-rock hits like “Magic,” “All Over The World,” “Suddenly” and “Evil Woman.”

One panelist described it as “a big show; multi-tiered, busy and total entertainment.” Another called it “a silly summer night at the theatre! As the play says, it’s like children’s theatre for grown ups, but it’s fun for kids, too.”

XANADU continues through August 26th. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.thecarnegie.com.

Final LCT awards will be determined at the end of the season and announced at the LCT gala in the spring.
