TDW Seeks Director for BAREFOOT IN THE PARK

The Board of the The Drama Workshop is conducting additional interviews to find a replacement director for BAREFOOT IN THE PARK.

If you are interested in directing BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, we ask for the following:

  • 15 – 20 minute presentation of your vision for Barefoot in the Park
  • Your calendar for 2013 (for audition andrehearsal dates/times)
  • Any additional thoughts that you would have including (but not limited to) your audition and rehearsal processes and any tech people who may be interested in helping you in this production.

Show dates April 26, 27, 28 May 3,4,5,10,11,12.

No auditions have been set

Our previous show DOUBT runs from March 8 – 24. Rehearsal time will limited during this time and the weeks immediately preceding.

Auditions, read-through, rehearsals and production will take place at The Glenmore Playhouse 3716 Glenmore Ave., Cheviot, Ohio 45211.

The following dates/times are available:

  • Sunday, August 26 from 4:00 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.

TDW Announces Cast of SNOOPY

The Drama Workshop announces the cast for SNOOPY, directed by Dennis Murphy and running Oct. 5-21.

The cast includes:

TDW Announces Auditions for DOUBT

THE DRAMA WORKSHOP is pleased to announce auditions for DOUBT, A PARABLE by John Patrick Shanley, directed by Michael L. Morehead, and produced by Ray Persing.

Auditions will be held at the new Glenmore Playhouse, 3716 Glenmore Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45211

Audition Dates are Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 4:00 pm and Monday, August 27, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Performance Dates will be March 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22,23, and 24, 2013. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 pm, Sunday performances at 2 pm.

Cast requirements:

  • 1 Woman, playing age range Late 50’s to Mid 60’s
  • 1 Woman, playing age range Early to Mid 20’s
  • 1 Male, playing age – 30’s
  • 1 African American Woman, playing age Mid 30’s to Mid 40’s

DOUBT, A PARABLE is set in a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, where a strong-minded nun wrestles with conscience and uncertainty as she is faced with concerns about one of her male colleagues. Should she voice her concern about one of the priests even if she is not totally certain about the truth?

Winner of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award for Best Play

Actors Needed for TDW’s SNOOPY

The Drama Workshop is having further auditions for the characters of Linus and Snoopy in SNOOPY! THE MUSICAL on Saturday, August 4 at 2pm at The Glenmore Playhouse.

Please bring 16 to 32 bars of music in the fun, up-tempo style of the show and be prepared to move.

The character of Snoopy must be a “song and dance man” as he has 4 major solos and many featured “bits” in the show. Linus has a major number revolving around the Pumpkin Patch and appears in many other numbers.

While singing is important, much more of the casting revolves around the actor’s ability to portray the big iconic characters we know and love.

Co-Operation is the Key to a Successful Opening

Cheviot, Ohio – 7/11/12 – The Drama Workshop has purchased their own theater space and will open their first show in October of this year. In renovating the former Glenmore Bowl, we have quickly discovered the amount of blood, sweat, and tears it will take to get it off the ground.

The group’s volunteers are logging in over one hundred hours a weekend and have completed the demolition phase. With the entry of the construction phase of the ambitious and exciting project, we are now reaching out to the rest of the Cincinnati theatre community.

Ray Persing, our Building Committee Chairman is willing to train. “If you want to learn how to do traditional plasterwork, install a drop ceiling, build a wall using metal framing, or hang and mud drywall, this is a great place to learn how. Before you try it on your house, come practice on ours!”

There is plenty of work for the non-skilled laborer as well: cleaning, painting, holding up ladders, scaffolding and walls! “There is nothing you can screw up.” Mr. Persing is fond of saying. “Even two hours is valuable.”

Please consider this as an opportunity for your group to spend a few hours together during the off-season and a chance to learn something new. You will be entered into our Gatlinburg Getaway drawing, and we will provide lunch and beverages. The building is climate controlled with adjacent parking.
