PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM runs May 5-13

PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM
Presented by Stagecrafters
May 5-13
Sharonville

Allan Felix has this thing about Humphrey Bogart. If only he had some of Bogart’s technique…Bogey comes to the rescue of Allan (who is bookish and insecure with women) with a fantastic bevy of beauties played out in hilarious fantasy sequences. Fixed up with gorgeous women by friends, he’s so awkward that even Bogey’s patience is tried. Allan mostly resembles a disheveled, friendly dog and this is what ultimately charms his best friend’s wife into bed. It’s a tough life, making it in the world of beautiful people but if you can’t be a hero it helps to have one…

THE DINING ROOM runs March 3-11

THE DINING ROOM
Presented by Stagecrafters
March 3-11
Sharonville

The play is set in the dining room of a typical well-to-do household, the place where the family assembled daily for breakfast and dinner and for any and all special occasions. The action is comprised of a mosaic of interrelated scenes – some funny, some touching, some rueful – which, taken together, create an in-depth portrait of a vanishing species: the upper-middle-class WASP. The actors change roles, personalities and ages with virtuoso skill as they portray a wide variety of characters. Dovetailing swiftly and smoothly, the varied scenes coalesce, ultimately into a theatrical experience of exceptional range, compassionate humor and abundant humanity.

Directed by Dee Dunn
Produced by Vicki Rafferty

Casting Call: The role of Gorgeous in THE SISTERS ROSENSWEIG

Stagecrafters is auditioning for the role of Gorgeous for their production of “The Sisters Rosensweig”. The performance dates are October 13, 15, 16, 22 & 23, 2011. Please contact Julie Jordan by email (jjordan79@msn.com) or phone (513 235-5609).

“The Sisters Rosensweig” takes place in the London home of Sara Goode (formerly Sara Rosenweig). Sara has attained a successful career in banking. She has a bright seventeen-year-old daughter, not to mention a couple of ex-husbands.

Three sisters reunite to celebrate the eldest’s (Sara) 54th birthday. The family reunion is the first time the three sisters have been together since their mother, Rita Rosenswieg died.

The younger sisters are just as bright and vivacious as Sara, but they have taken different paths in life. Pfeni, the youngest, has spent her life journeying around the world, writing travel books. For years, Pfeni has maintained a long-distance relationship with a bisexual man, a successful theater director named Geoffrey Duncan.

*Gorgeous, the middle sister, is the most traditional of the three. She can’t help but boast about her loving husband, her adorable children, and her promising new career as an advice guru on a local cable channel. Of the three sisters, she is the most rooted in their Jewish heritage, as well as the most stringent believer in the “American Dream.” In fact, she is the only Rosenswieg sister with a permanent residence in America, and can’t quite understand why her sisters have chosen such unconventional paths. In addition to these traits, Gorgeous has some vanity/envy issues. Whenever she is upset, she has a compelling desire to shop for clothes and shoes. At the same time, her fundamental values lie with family. When she is given a gift of an expensive Chanel suit, she decides to return it to the store and use the cash to help pay for her children’s education.
