Auditions Announced for ARSENIC AND OLD LACE at SSCC Theatre

SSCC_logoSSCC Theatre is pleased to announce their upcoming auditions for the fall production of ARSENIC AND OLD LACE by Joseph Kesselring.

We meet the charming and innocent ladies who populate their cellar with the remains of socially and religiously “acceptable” roomers; the antics of their nephew who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt; and the activities of the other nephew—these require no further description or amplification here.

Auditions, open to community members and students, will be held on Friday, August 24 at 6:30 p.m. in The Edward K. Daniels Auditorium at the Central Campus of Southern State Community College, in Hillsboro, OH. Those interested in auditioning should prepare and memorize a comedic one to two-minute monologue. Those interested on working in available crew positions will be asked to complete an interview during auditions. If you’re interested in auditioning, but unavailable to attend the audition date, please contact Rainee Angles (rangles@sscc.edu) to schedule an alternate audition date prior to August 24.

ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, directed by Rainee Angles, will be performed November 2 – 4.

Although Poncelet was sentenced to death, Carl Vitello, his accomplice, was sentenced to a lesser sentence of life without parole. Poncelet, as depicted by the press, is a volatile criminal who often makes references regarding Hitler as a role model. By becoming Matt’s spiritual advisor, Helen is able to get inside the mind of a convicted killer. With letters and visits, Prejean is able to discover and understand a man that the rest of the world only views as a cold-blooded killer.
