Please come prepared to read from the script.
Those auditioning for WADSWORTH will be asked to audition with a British accent.

Performance Dates
February 9 – 11 @ 7:30pm
February 12 @2:00pm

Cast Requirements:

  • WADSWORTH, a traditional British butler in every sense: uptight, formal, and “by the book”. He is the driving force.
  • YVETTE, a loyal and sexy French maid.
  • MISS SCARLET, a dry, sardonic D.C. madam, more interested in secrets than sex.
  • MRS. PEACOCK, the wealthy wife of a senator, A bit batty, neurotic, and quick to hysteria.
  • COLONEL MUSTARD, a puffy, pompous, dense, blowhard of a military man.
  • PROFESSOR PLUM, an arrogant academic, easily impressed by himself.
  • MR. GREEN, a timid yet officious rule follower. He’s awfully anxious.

At Truvy’s beauty salon you can always get the best hair ‘do — and the best gossip! A tight-knit group of Louisiana women gather regularly to bond, dish and offer advice on everything from motherhood and marriage to tragedy and loss. Beloved characters like the wise-cracking Truvy and her eager new assistant Annelle, curmudgeonly Ouiser, millionaire Miss Clairee, and local social leader M’lynn and her sweet-natured daughter Shelby all find their lives and relationships tested. But in the face of impossible decisions, their bonds with one another only strengthen. Written with heartwarming dialogue and snappy repartee, Steel Magnolias revels in the power and grace of female friendship.

Auditions Announced for STEEL MAGNOLIAS at Greater Hamilton Civic Theatre

GHCT_logoGHCT and director Chris Beiser are happy to announce auditions for STEEL MAGNOLIAS.

Sun-Mon, July 31-Aug. 1 from 7-9pm

Auditions will take place at the Creative Center at the Palace
215 S. Third St.
Hamilton, OH 45011

Auditions will consist of reading from the script.

Rehearsals will begin the week of August 15th and will be 4 times a week. Specific rehearsal dates will be decided depending on cast availability. Those auditioning should be ready to list all conflicts from August 15-October 2.

Performances are set for September 29-October 2, 2022

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

  • Truvy: (40-50). Owner of the best local beauty shop in Chinquapin, Louisiana.
  • Annelle:(18-24). Beauty shop assistant. Nervous. New to town.
  • Claire: (55-70). Widow of the former mayor. Grande dame.
  • Shelby: (22-25). Prettiest girl in town. About to be married.
  • M’Lynn: (50-early 60). Shelby’s mother. Socially prominent career woman.
  • Ouiser: (55-70). Wealthy curmudgeon. Acerbic but loveable.

The women in this play are witty, intelligent, and above all, real characters. They in no way are meant to be portrayed cartoonish or as caricatures.

This classic comedy opens as a group of the guys assemble for cards in the apartment of divorced Oscar Madison. And if the mess is any indication, it’s no wonder that his wife left him. Late to arrive is Felix Unger, who has just been separated from his wife. Fastidious, depressed, and none too tense, Felix seems suicidal, but as the action unfolds, Oscar becomes the one with murder on his mind when the clean freak and the slob ultimately decide to room together with hilarious results as The Odd Couple is born.
