JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT Cancelled at Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre

CYPT_logoCincinnati Landmark Productions announces the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Covedale Center for the Performing Arts.

We had hoped to have by now some realistic timeline that would allow us to rehearse and perform Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre’s 39th major summer project – even in limited ways.

We continue to have no such timeline: Theatrical performances are not allowed both indoors and outdoors. Without knowing when or how we can rehearse, costume, build sets and do the thousand other things necessary to make the CYPT summer project happen, we have to make this decision now.

Therefore, the auditions for Joseph…Dreamcoat on May 30, 31 and June 1 are cancelled as well.

We hope to keep our CYPT connections alive this summer in some other important ways. We are actively working with local officials to determine if/when smaller-scale outside concerts might be allowed, as well as exploring virtual performance options.

On behalf of the staff, board and volunteers of this organization, we sincerely and primarily hope you and yours are safe and healthy during this difficult time. Our profound gratitude goes out to medical professionals, first responders and other essential workers on the frontlines of this COVID-19 pandemic.

Cincinnati Landmark Productions has a long and storied history of theatrical success, starting in 1982 at Westwood Town Hall, to the Showboat Majestic, the Covedale and Incline theaters, and Madcap Education Center. CLP has done exciting things onstage and in the lives of its patrons. But it all started with Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre and the thousands of young performers, from scores of different schools, sharing the best summers of their lives together.

NEXT summer, the complete CYPT experience will be back – bigger, louder, faster, funnier and more true than ever before.

2020 OCTA Events Have Been Cancelled

OCTA_logoFrom OHIO COMMUNITY THEATRE ASSOCIATION STATE BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

It is with great regret that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 OCTA Regionals, OCTA, Jr. and the OCTA State Conference 2020.

The COVID-19 situation posed new challenges, both in terms of safety and logistics, to our regionals, OCTA, Jr and OCTA State Conference and the decision to cancel was made after great deliberation by the OCTA State Board and Regional Reps. Our ability to guarantee a healthy environment for our participants throughout the experience was of primary importance in this decision. Even though the actual events are months away and the landscape is still very uncertain, the safety issues of rehearsal spaces, live performances, audience social distancing, hotel and buffet meals indicate cancellation as the wisest course for this year.

Participation in any OCTA event is an experience that cannot be replaced, and we are saddened that we cannot provide that opportunity for our participants and member theatres this year. Plans are already being made for the OCTA 2020-2021 Season.

On behalf of the entire OCTA State Board and our Regional Representatives, thank you for your continued interest and support of OCTA and our programs.  We depend on your membership and participation to make OCTA a viable organization for community theatre participants across the state of Ohio to not only have educational opportunities but also to receive recognition for their efforts on and off the stage.

Break-a-leg to all our member theatres as we begin to re-open our theatres and tread the boards once again!
