The play time-shifts between the past and the present, revealing the strength, humor, and passion of a long-term marriage, juxtaposed with the isolated, painful prison it has become. Between the demands of her deteriorating husband, and her young adult children, can Lisa find some kind of joy for herself, without
further destroying her family? Performances July 23rd at 8:00pm and 28th at 7:30pm.
PLAY READING SERIES: The New Works Festival Play Reading Series will present three staged readings of new plays currently under development:
Akrasia by Kate McMorran. Directed by Robert Allen. Struggling through therapy after a painful breakup, Amy meets Jason – the perfect rebound. As their relationship builds, Amy realizes everything isn’t quite as it seems when they run into Rachel – a mysterious figure from Jason’s past. As Jason’s secrets are revealed, Amy is forced to explore what boundaries, consent, and the stories we tell ourselves really mean. Reading July 24th, at 2:00pm.
Of Dudes And Nudes by Nathan Top. Directed by Elizabeth a. Harris. Gym-rat Jeff wants to quit going to marriage counseling with his wife, Trish. When Jeff accidentally takes a peek at Trish’s phone, he discovers a dick pic, one that he didn’t send to her. Determined to save his marriage, Jeff seeks counsel from his best friend, Calvin, whose picture perfect relationship with an older man, Don, has also begun to reveal cracks. Of Dudes and Nudes is a fast-paced comedy that explores the hierarchy of our closest relationships and the sacrifices we make to maintain them. Reading July 24th at 4:00pm.
in a stand of dying trees by Shannon TL Kearns. Directed by Carolyn Guido Clifford. Ben and Amanda love their town and they love their neighbors. Sure, they sometimes disagree, but they are comfortable. When Liam, Ben’s former college friend, comes to town on a campaign to get people to “vote blue” their idyllic life is threatened. Can people remain friends even when they disagree? And who has the right to defend themselves? Reading July 24th at 7:00pm.
