trueHOOD On Oct. 26

TRUE_hoodtrueHOOD
trueTHEATRE
Oct. 26
Memorial Hall [Over-the-Rhine]

Stories from and about neighborhoods of the Queen City, CINCINNATI! Inspired by a recent documentary created by local documentarian and violinist Preston Bell Charles III, this show is designed to make Cincinnatians interested in other areas of our city with which we may not be as familiar, to encourage exploration and the development of a greater appreciation of where we call “home”.

True Theatre is Cincinnati’s longest-running storytelling event, now in its 14th season. Over the years, we’ve featured hundreds of stories from hundreds of people just like you, making connections and building Community through the sharing of true, personal stories. We are so grateful to our audiences for supporting us and giving us a reason to continue in our mission for so long!

THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE Runs Nov. 8-12

CCM_Spelling BeeTHE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE
UC College-Conservatory of Music
Nov. 8-12
[University Heights]

Directed by Chaz Wolcott
Music directed by Steve Goers

An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.

LATE NITE CATECHISM
Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park
Nov. 4-Dec. 23
Shelterhouse Theatre [Eden Park]

One of the longest running shows in Chicago and U.S. theatre history, this one-nun comedy is part catechism class, part stand-up routine. A playful and compassionate send-up of Catholic culture, the audience becomes Sister’s class in this uproarious piece of interactive theatre. Sister is filling in for Father Murphy, who doesn’t want to miss his poker night, and she’s going to teach the class the way she wants. She goes on to weave stories into a hilarious tapestry that laughs at the quirks of the church while simultaneously embracing them. The Hollywood Reporter said it’s “a laugh-filled evening for all cultures, classes and religions.” Appropriate for audiences 12 and up and contains no strong language.
