Charles is hoping to use Madame Arcati for inspiration for his latest book. Madame Arcati conducts a seance which at first appears to have failed, but soon it becomes clear that Charles’ late wife Elvira has been brought back to haunt him. ALMOST, MAINE
Tree County Players
Oct. 3-5
[Greensburg, Ind.]

Directed by Megan Gehrich and Rocky Miano
Produced by Brady Domingo

Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. It’s almost in Canada. And it’s not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn’t exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WANDA JUNE Runs Sept. 26-Oct. 5

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WANDA JUNE
One Off Productions
Sept. 26-Oct. 5
Gabriel’s Corner [Over-the-Rhine]

Cast: Rory Sheridan as Harold Ryan, Tess Talbot as Penelope Ryan/Mildred, Brian Willis as Looseleaf Harper, Jared Earland as Herb Shuttle/Von Konigswald, David Derringer as Dr. Norbert Woodly, Lucas Busemeyer as Paul Ryan & Ashlynn Hezlep as Wanda June

In his first published play, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. finds a powerful vehicle for his tragicomical imagination. When the great, presumed-dead, adventure-hunter Harold Ryan unexpectedly returns after eight years—on his birthday!—his wife is aghast and his son is enchanted. Vonnegut bakes up a birthday cake of phony heroes and male swagger, frosted with farce in “a simple-minded play about men who enjoy killing—and those who don’t.”
