Auditions Announced for THE MUSIC MAN at Footlighters, Inc.

Celebrate the 4th of July in December by auditioning for this classic, family friendly musical!

We are committed to the safety of everyone involved in this production. Footlighters require that all production staff, cast, and crew bring proof of their COVID vaccination status to the first rehearsal.

Auditions will consist of three parts:

  • Cold readings from the script (if auditioning for characters with more than 10 lines)
  • Music: 16 bars of character appropriate song in the style of the show (please make sure to have sheet music in your correct key at auditions).
  • Dance: A dance combo audition.

CHILDREN’S AUDITIONS:

  • Children between the ages of 7-13 may audition for children roles in the show.
  • Prepare an age-appropriate song of your choice and a short (30-60 seconds) monologue if you have one.
  • Please bring three copies of your headshot and resume.
  • Please sign up for one 8-minute time slot on Saturday morning (Aug 26).
  • Children callbacks will take place on Sunday (Aug 27) from 1:00-3:00. Those called back will be notified by email on Saturday evening (Aug 26).

REHEARSALS WILL BEGIN FOR THE SOUND OF MUSIC ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5. Rehearsals usually take place on Tuesday-Friday evenings, along with Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The show runs during Xavier’s Family Weekend from October 19-22.

Video Auditions Announced for HELLO, DOLLY! at The Carnegie

Auditions by Video Submission.
Submissions are due by 11:59 PM EST on September 8, 2023.
Performers must be 14 years of age or older to submit an audition.

What to prepare:

  • 32 bars of a song in the style of HELLO, DOLLY!
  • Resume
  • Headshot
  • Optional: 1-2 minute video showcasing your dance/movement abilities

Audition videos will only be accepted as links. Files requiring download will not be accepted.

Please ensure that privacy settings are such that we are enabled to view by the link only, with no need for password or additional access request. Please film your material in a horizontal/landscape frame on a solid background or plain wall. A ¾ shot is preferred.

Your headshot must be an image file and your resume must be in PDF format. Both should be labeled with you name (i.e. Gabbard_Tyler.pdf)

Callbacks
Callbacks will be a mix of live and digital based on the availability of the auditionee and production staff. In-person callbacks are planned for the evening of Monday, September 18, 2023. Actors will be provided with show materials to prepare for callbacks.

Casting
All auditionees will be notified of casting outcomes by Friday, September 29, 2023.

The Carnegie is committed to inclusive casting. All races, ethnicities, gender identities, body types, and mobilities are encouraged to apply. Pronouns listed in the character breakdown refer to the genders of the characters only. Actors should submit for any roles they feel comfortable playing.

Also Note:

  • All Adult Roles are paid. Principal Roles pay $1000, Secondary Roles and Ensemble pay $800.
  • High School Student Roles are included in the production as part of our Education Department. These roles are not paid, nor is there any cost associated with this educational experience.
  • Not AEA eligible.
  • No housing provided.

Conflicts will be accepted on a limited basis. The Carnegie strives to provide flexible opportunities for artists to pursue their craft in an environment that respects work-life balance. If conflicts are too numerous, we reserve the right to retract our offer. No performance conflicts will be accepted.

COVID-19 Policies
The Carnegie fervently encourages all auditioners to seek the Covid-19 vaccination before attending in-person callbacks. Proof of a completed initial vaccine course may be requested before the start of rehearsals for all company members. Rehearsals may be conducted in masks depending on virus transmission rates. Performances and audiences will not be masked.

HELLO, DOLLY! is a blockbuster Broadway hit bursting with romance, humor, and some of the greatest songs in musical theater history. Boisterous and charming from start to finish, the musical follows the exploits of meddling matchmaker Dolly Levi over the course of one unforgettable day. Audiences will delight in one crowd-pleasing musical number after another including “Put on Your Sunday Clothes,” “Ribbons Down My Back,” “Before the Parade
Passes By,” and the effervescent title song.
