Doug Berky Performs for Fitton Family Fridays at the Fitton Center on Feb. 20

Doug Berky.

Doug Berky.

Hamilton, Ohio – Doug Berky has been creating and evolving his own brand of physical theater for over thirty years. His original performances are an intricately woven fabric of Commedia Del Arte, physical comedy, mime, mask theatre, clowning, circus arts, and storytelling. Join us on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. as Doug Berky presents NO SHOW. This event is part of the Fitton Family Fridays series.

The premise of Doug Berky’s NO SHOW is that a performance has been scheduled, the stage is set, and the audience is seated and waiting, but the actors are a “no show.” A “member” of the audience begins to search for the cast. When they cannot be found he discovers the set and all the props waiting to be used. Theatrical masks, juggling equipment, and a tutu are just a few of the items discovered. “NO SHOW” is a structured improvisation with audience interaction. It weaves together   elements of mime, circus, masks and silent movie schtick.

Doug is known internationally for his mask construction. He designs and constructs the masks for his own performances as well as creating all of the sets, choreography, scripts and many of the costumes. Doug has performed and taught throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe in schools, colleges, and festivals. He is known internationally for his design and construction of masks.

Fitton Family Fridays feature entertainment geared to kids of all ages, from preschoolers to teenagers – including parents and grandparents who are still kids at heart. Kid-friendly drinks and an assortment of light appetizers will be served before the show and are included in the ticket price. This series is sponsored by Vaden Fitton. The reception is sponsored by G&J Pepsi-Cola Bottlers, Inc.
