Knox Rocks Free Children’s Concert Features Grammy-Nominated Singer Zak Morgan

KNOX_Zak Morgan promo

(August 7, 2017) – Children throughout Cincinnati are invited to a free concert featuring award-winning and Grammy-nominated children’s singer Zak Morgan on September 9, from 4:00-6;00pm on the lawn of Knox Presbyterian Church, 3400 Michigan Avenue, Hyde Park.

The second annual “Knox Rocks” concert will also feature a variety of lawn games, food and other family-friendly activities, including plenty of sing-along and dance-along time.

Morgan’s CD “When Bullfrogs Croak” was nominated for a Grammy, a rare feat for an independent artist. When he is not writing and recording, Zak performs family concerts throughout the country. His live performances are always filled with laughter and warmth as he encourages children to read, imagine and believe in themselves.  Morgan has released three critically acclaimed records and one DVD, with lyrics often that are both gently humorous and meaningful—and often compared with Shel Silverstein.

Morgan currently resides in Cincinnati, OH and is working on his fourth record.

“Knox Rocks” attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.  Free food and drinks will be provided, and indoor restrooms will be available.  In the event of inclement weather, the concert will move indoors.

About Knox Church:  Knox Presbyterian Church (Presbyterian Church, USA) is a growing, progressive church of approximately 1,100 members in Cincinnati’s Hyde Park neighborhood.  The church is known throughout the region for its community outreach and activism, music program, and active, diverse congregation.  Worship services are Sundays at 9:00am and 11:00am.  Adam Fronczek is Pastor and Head of Staff.  www.knox.org

About the Zac Morgan: Zak Morgan was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1970. His sense of humor and penchant for wordplay are gifts passed down from his grandfather, George “Bud” Rooney. Listening to his grandfather invent yarns, limericks, and even new words had a profound effect on him. Now, as a successful entertainer, Morgan has been compared to Shel Silverstein and Dr. Seuss because of his wit and child-friendly sophistication. Morgan began writing songs in high school. By 1991 he had released two singles that were played on over two hundred radio stations.  Morgan’s second CD, When Bullfrogs Croak,  was nominated for a Grammy, a rare feat for an independent release. www.zakmorgan.com

TICKETS GO ON SALE FRIDAY, AUGUST 18 AT 10:00 AM

98° have made their Christmas plans for this year. The vocal quartet comprised of Cincinnati’s own Nick Lache and Drew Lachey, and Justin Jeffre and Jeff Timmons, who are renowned forsignature R&B-tinged, four-part harmonies will release Let It Snow, their new Christmas album on October 13, 2017 via UMe.

98° will support Let It Snow with the 98° at Christmas tour, a 31-city trek that starts November 10 in Larchwood, IA and concludes December 23 in Primm, NV. The tour makes its much-anticipated Cincinnati stop at the Aronoff Center’s Procter & Gamble Hall on Friday, December 15, 2917 at 8:00 PM. See the full list of dates below. Concert goers can expect a high-energy 98° show featuring holiday songs from their new album, as well as their beloved hits.

Let It Snow is 98°’s first new album in four years and a follow-up eighteen years in the making to the now classic and platinum certified album This Christmas. The album, recorded at Sound Factory in Los Angeles, CA was produced by Andy and Thom Mak and executive produced by Grammy-nominated music, TV, and film producer Adam Anders (Glee, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Backstreet Boys, and the Jonas Brothers).

Preorder Let It Snowhttps://UMe.lnk.to/LetItSnow

Recording Let It Snow was an easy decision. “As a group, our favorite record, hands down, is [This Christmas],” says Drew. “We’re proud of the music, the harmonies, the production. It’s a Christmas record that every year people can put on and enjoy.”

“We have primarily a female audience, but we’ll have guys come up to us and say, ‘You know what? I love the Christmas album; my mom bought it for me.’ It’s bro code that the Christmas album’s allowed,” Timmons jokingly added.

Let It Snow features 12 Christmas songs such as the title track, “Let It Snow,”  “What Christmas Means To Me,” originally recorded by Stevie Wonder, “Little Saint Nick,” and “Run Rudolph Run.” Each track was personally selected by each member of the band. The full-track listing and song premiere will be released in the coming weeks.

2017 also marks the 20th anniversary of the group’s debut self-titled release. “It’s a special year for us – it’s the 20th anniversary of our first release on Motown Records,”  says Nick. “So, it just seemed like the perfect moment to revisit This Christmas and do a Volume Two.”

All four members have enjoyed other careers outside of music, but love to get back into the studio and sing together. Nick appeared on TV shows both as an actor (The WB’s Charmed and One Tree Hill ) and a host (VH-1’s Big Morning Buzz Live). Drew was crowned season two winner of Dancing With the Stars and has been on Broadway, and both brothers opened Lachey’s Bar (A&E). Timmons joined members of Backstreet Boys and ‘NSYNC for VH-1’s Mission Man Bandand Nick Carter’s Sci-Fi feature, Dead Seven. Jeffre is involved in various media- and cause-related projects stemming from his foray into politics as a mayoral candidate of Cincinnati.

Music Hall, one the nation’s most treasured performance venues, is wrapping up an extensive, eighteen-month renovation in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.  These long-awaited updates and upgrades throughout the iconic structure will enhance the hall’s historic grandeur and its world-class acoustics.

It has been more than forty years since visionary philanthropists Patricia and Ralph Corbett led the last extensive renovation of Music Hall. This national historic landmark will continue to require regular care and maintenance to remain a world-class performing arts facility.

“As SPMH kicks off its second generation of stewardship of Cincinnati’s Music Hall, we look forward to our Unwrapped event in October,” says Peter Koenig, President of SPMH. “This is an exciting opportunity for us to bring awareness to our preservation efforts and for guests to experience Corbett Tower and Music Hall in a different way. SPMH is particularly proud of our contribution to restore and renovate Corbett Tower and to the restoration of the black-brick decorative features on the exterior.”

SPMH is a non-profit, 100% volunteer organization with over thirty years of special dedication to this historic building and its unique role in our community.
