CCM Dance Presents CINDERELLA Fairy Tale Ballet

CCM_Cinderella

A timeless fairy tale romance, CINDERELLA “is among the most rewardingly re-watchable and re-listenable ballets ever made” (New York Times). Tickets on sale now.

CINCINNATI, OH — The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music’s (CCM) Mainstage Series presents Sergei Prokofiev’s romantic CINDERELLA ballet on Friday, April 26-Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Patricia Corbett Theater. Choreographed by Artistic Director of the Dayton Ballet Karen Russo Burke, the production’s ensemble director is Michael Tevlin.

CINDERELLA is known for its jubilant melodies, lush scenery and graceful retelling of the timeless fairytale romance by Charles Perrault. A poor girl wishes to escape her evil stepmother and stepsisters, so her fairy godmother gives her a ticket to the ball! The girl meets prince charming and they fall in love, but she vanishes when the clock strikes midnight. CCM’s production of the beloved ballet features the college’s talented dance students as well as Dayton Ballet guest artist Ivan Braatz as the prince.

Burke has cast male dancers as the ugly stepsisters in CCM’s production of CINDERELLA, a convention that originates from Sir Frederick Ashton’s popular staging of the ballet for The Royal Ballet. Burke watched Ashton’s Cinderella choreography on TV as a young girl and was mesmerized by the performance. “Audiences were shocked to see such physical comedy in a ballet,” she remembers.

Celebrate spring’s arrival with this favorite rags-to-riches fairytale ballet. CCM Dance presents CINDERELLA from Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28, 2019. Tickets on sale now through the CCM Box Office.

CCM’s production of CINDERELLA will last 1 hour and 20 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission between Acts I and II and a 5-minute pause between Acts II and III.

Auditions Announced for THE LAND OF OZ at InBocca Performance

IBP_logoAnnouncing InBocca Performance’s summer show, THE LAND OF OZ. Join the wild characters of L. Frank Baum’s Oz books to discover the meaning of home, heart, and friendship. Sometimes we have to leave in order to discover just who we are.

This year we are doing something new and exciting! We are creating an alumni collaboration show–meaning this production is open to both grades 3-12 AND any person who has performed with InBocca’s summer shows in the past. We are so excited to make this happen and are PUMPED at the idea of seeing some familiar faces this summer, maybe some we haven’t seen in a long time!

We will be holding auditions for our summer production on March 30th, 2019, from 10am-2pm, at the Village Players of Fort Thomas, KY. Details are as follows:

Date: March 30th, 2019
Place: 8 N. Ft. Thomas Ave., Ft. Thomas, KY UPSTAIRS DOOR
Time: 10am-2pm

We are looking for dancers, movers, singers, and actors. We will have separate dance auditions (for serious dancers, not movers) on site at 10am, while others do cold readings and devised, collaborative work in a different space. No need to prepare anything; come dressed comfortably for movement.

In order to accommodate college students and adults, we will be having two rehearsals a week (Tuesday and Thursday) that take place in the evenings so that those who work a day job may participate. So, the schedule will look like this:

M, W, F: 9am-2pm high schoolers and elementary schoolers
Tu/Th: 6pm-9pm College Students and Adults
Saturdays: 9am-12noon Dance

The production will take place Aug. 1st-4th, with two shows on the 3rd. Rehearsals will begin July 8th.

The cost of camp for grades 3-12 is $200 per child. For anyone who might struggle with this cost, please contact us directly; we never want a child to not be able to perform because of financial reasons. For precisely this reason, we are also giving the option of a ‘Cost of Living’ Tuition, where we will happily accept tuition from $200-500 depending on a family’s means and desire to help support students who may need scholarship. It is our desire to pay the adults who work with us a decent wage, and sadly this has not been possible with the fees we have charged in the past. If you are able to give more, please consider it, but do not think it a requirement.

College students and adults do not need to pay a fee, but may be asked to help with young people during rehearsals/shows.

**PLEASE NOTE: We know that Fort Thomas Schools start spring break on March 29th. Unfortunately, the 30th was the best date for our schedule. Please email us re: video auditions.

MamLuft&Co. Dance, a progressive modern dance company in Cincinnati, Ohio, auditions annually for intelligent and skilled dancers who possess a strong commitment to the rehearsal process and the development of original dance in an ensemble.

The Company seeks experienced, mature dancers with strong training and experience in modern and “post-modern” techniques, including release techniques, weight share/partnering, and somatic practices.

Successful applicants will be invited to join a community, in which all members — regardless of their roles on stage — are responsible for creating, producing, and public relations in/for a grassroots organization.

Applicants should be committed to being an integral part of the development and advancement of a young, but exceptional organization. The season’s in-depth and extended process takes place over a ~40-45 week season.

Experienced adults and serious inquiries only. MamLuft&Co. Dance prefers not to enlist students who are still in college, but may do so in exceptional cases.

NO PHONE CALLS. PLEASE REQUEST AUDITION PACKET FROM JEANNE@MLCO.ORG.

Video Pre-Screen
Applicants are welcome to send Artistic Director Jeanne Mam-Luft (jeanne@mamluftcodance.org) video links of dancers in class, performance, and/or rehearsal. Use the subject line: “Video audition pre-screen.” Jeanne will let you know if she recommends you attend in person or not. We strongly encourage sending videos that are in-line with MamLuft&Co. Dance’s aesthetic, which you can get a sense of at vimeo.com/mamluftcodance or facebook.com/mamluftcodance.

When to Audition
Preferred: attend open audition on Saturday, March 30, 2019 (11-1:30pm and 3:00-5:00pm call backs).
