Stage Manager and Supporting Actors Sought for WHO IS AMOS OTIS? at Memorial Hall

A provocative courtroom drama stage play premiering at Memorial Hall’s Anderson Theater in September in search of key people. All positions paid and non-Equity. Evening rehearsals begin week of Sept. 9.

Experienced Stage Manager – must be able to run rehearsals and own the room in addition to running the show.

Actors for supporting roles:

  • Stanley Rosenberg: apartment complex owner and witness between 55 and 70 who would appreciate a good cigar.
  • Amanda Beal: prosecution’s psychiatrist who is over 50 and reeks of confident intelligence.
  • Amelia Woodburn: building security supervisor and witness between 40 to 55 who would make a good drill instructor
  • The Bailiff: man between 35 and 50 in good enough shape to gag a struggling defendant. Preferably Hispanic.

Be a part of the team of guest services professionals at the Tri-state’s premiere arts venues – the Aronoff Center for the Arts and Music Hall. The Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) is pleased to present OPEN INTERVIEWS for Part-tTme and/or Seasonal jobs at the Aronoff and Music Hall on Monday, July 29, 2019 from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM & 4:00 PM-7:00 PM; Tuesday, July 30, 2019 from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM & 4:00 PM-7:00 PM, and Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM at the Aronoff Center’s Procter & Gamble Hall Lobby (main lobby), located downtown on Walnut Street between 6th & 7th Streets.

CAA is seeking individuals with outgoing personalities who enjoy working with people, and who possess exceptional guest service skills. All positions are Part-Time and/or Seasonal with flexible schedules requiring primarily nights and weekends, with some weekday shifts available.

Available positions include:

  • CUSTODIAL SERVICES
    Custodial Services staff provide and maintain a clean and safe environment at our Music Hall facility for our guests, clients, and staff, by cleaning all areas of the facility and arranging set-ups for events. Floor experience is a plus. Approximately twenty hours per week. Mainly nights and weekends.
  • EVENT STAFF
    Event Staff assist in ensuring a safe and secure environment for our clients, guests, and staff at our Aronoff Center and Music Hall facilities, by conducting security screenings and monitoring the premises, while providing exceptional guest services. Previous experience in a security and/or guest-service environment is helpful.
  • FRONT-OF-HOUSE/AUDIENCE SERVICES
    Floor Supervisor positions facilitate a safe and positive guest experience at our Aronoff Center and Music Hall venues by overseeing Front-of-House functions, monitoring lobby activities, and supervising volunteer ushers. Must be available nights and weekends for up to ten shifts a month, weekday availability welcome. Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
  • TICKETING SERVICES
    Ticketing Services Representatives work out of the Aronoff Center Ticket Office, where they assist guests and handle ticket sales in person and by phone, while providing exceptional and friendly guest services. Aptitude for learn ticketing software and basic math skills are necessary.

CAA employs nearly seventy full-time employees, as well as more than five-hundred part-time employees in the areas of guest services, arts administration, and stagehand labor.

Over-Hire Run Crew Sought by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

Job Title: Over-hire Run Crew, Non-union
Reports to: Production Stage Manager and Stage Management Staff
Position Overview: Over-hire Run Crew may work in any department and are responsible for running various technical elements of shows during performance. Physical locations for this job will include the Marx and Shelterhouse Theatres, and the accompanying backstage and support areas. These are temporary positions that will span 5-6 weeks between September, 2019 – June, 2020, depending on the production. These positions will require work outside normal business hours, including, but not limited to, evenings and weekends.

Position Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Props Run Crew:

  • Preparing the stage for rehearsal and performance, according to instructions from Stage Management, and Props Run Crew Chief.
  • Presetting and tracking set pieces or props during rehearsals and performances, making sure items are in proper position, at the proper times.
  • Moving set pieces and handing off both props and set pieces during rehearsals and performances.
  • Cleaning up onstage and backstage as needed after rehearsal and performance.
  • Making crew chiefs aware of needed updates to paperwork.
  • Additional specific duties as assigned.

Wardrobe Run Crew:

  • Assisting the actors with dressing pre- and post-show. This may include assisting with hair styling and/or prepping and securing wigs.
  • Presetting and tracking costume pieces before, during and after rehearsals and performances.
  • Executing costume changes throughout the performance, as assigned.
  • Repairs and maintenance to costume pieces that may include hand sewing, machine sewing, as well as painting and/or polishing and other “touch-ups” as needed.
  • Nightly laundry, including ironing, steaming, de-linting, and distributing costumes.
  • Minor touch-up to existing wig styles.
  • Create wardrobe track paperwork as needed.

Electrics Run Crew (Marx Theatre Only):

  • Preparing the stage for rehearsal and performance, including sweeping and mopping as needed.
  • Operation of a Lycian Follow Spot.
  • Creation of Follow Spot paperwork as needed.
  • Cleaning up onstage and backstage as needed after rehearsal and performance.

Competencies (all positions) include:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in technical theatre or entertainment industry equivalent.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A basic knowledge of technical theatre terms.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • For Wardrobe Positions – Basic Sewing Skills.
  • Demonstrated interest or related experience in theatre preferred.

Physical Demands (all positions): 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk (sometimes quickly), talk, hear, and speak.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work is often performed in dimly lit areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry 20-30 lbs.

Stage Manager Sought for MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS at Covedale Center

CCPACincinnati Landmark Productions, the parent theatrical organization for The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts, The Warsaw Federal Incline Theater and the Westwood Education Center, is seeking to fill the position of Stage Manager for the Covedale’s 2019/2020 season production of MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS at The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts.

Requirements: Previous experience in stage management, company management and/or event coordination for live performances. Must be able to communicate effectively. Able to lead with a smile. Must have excellent time-management and problem-solving skills.

Other Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and regular internet access/connection. Dependability is essential. Must be willing to work in a unique, collaborative, creative, dedicated, professional and fun environment.
