Positions Available at The Carnegie

The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center has three part-time positions available. Though not a requirement, qualified candidates may be eligible to fill both the Sales Associate position and one of the Instructor positions. Candidates interested in both positions should mention this in his or her email.

Sales Associate – Part-Time (15 – 20 hours / week, including many evenings and weekends)

The Sales Associate is responsible for the sale of tickets for events scheduled at The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center, as well as the generation of group sales and program advertisement opportunities and other activities pursuant to sales. The Sales and Marketing Associate will report to the Box Office Manager and Managing Director of Theatre and work cooperatively with The Carnegie’s staff and its clients. Accountability and a flexible schedule are of utmost importance. Other critical skills and qualities include computer proficiency and intuition, strong written and oral communication, a dedication to excellent customer service and a passion for the arts. Candidates must have a college degree (arts, marketing and/or communications a plus, but not required) completed or in progress. Compensation is $12 per hour.

The Contracted Performing Arts Instructor – Part-Time (2 – 10 hours / week)

The Contracted Performing Arts Instructor is responsible for implementing performing arts programming offered by the Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center afterschool. This includes, but is not limited to, developing and teaching performing arts lessons, preparing, gathering and purchasing necessary supplies within an agreed upon budget, preparing and implementing final performances for friends and families, cleaning and organizing the Education Center after contact hours, providing evaluation data to the Education Director, and spending the time necessary to assure that programs are successfully completed. Candidates must have experience working with children. Compensation is up to $20 per contact hour.

Business Touring Manager – ArtReach Division of The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati

Main Duties of Business Touring Manager

  • Make sales calls/emails to prospective venues for the touring company
  • Make renewal calls/emails to existing clientele
  • Make sales calls/emails to prospective venues for Workshops

Schedule and Maintain Touring Company

  • Calendar management
  • Block booking
  • Booking of hotels and travel accommodations
  • Liaison for Road Manager (touring artist) and Office Staff
  • Creation of Call Sheet for touring artist
  • Contact with Venues and the Company
  • Vehicle maintenance scheduling
  • Work directly with Workshop Coordinator
  • Work directly with Artistic Director
  • Work directly with TCTC Bookkeeper
  • Reports primarily to Executive Director of TCTC

Other requirements

  • Some basic finance and accounting skills
  • Experience with Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Arts Administrative degree a plus
  • All employees of TCTC assist in other areas of the company as needed

EdTA Seeks Educational Programs Coordinator

The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) is a professional organization for theatre education with approximately 90,000 members nationwide. EdTA’s mission is shaping lives through theatre education by: Honoring student achievement in theatre and enriching their theatre education experience; Supporting teachers by providing professional development, networking opportunities, resources, and recognition; and Influencing public opinion that theatre education is essential and builds life skills. EdTA operates the International Thespian Society (ITS), an honorary organization that has inducted over 2 million theatre students since its founding in 1929.

Job description
EdTA seeks an Educational Programs Coordinator to perform event programming support for the Education Department. This is a full-time entry level position with benefits. This individual will have heavy interaction with members and staff, and must enjoy working in a team atmosphere.

Summary of basic duties and  esponsibilities
The Educational Programs Coordinator supports the Education staff in planning association events. Responsibilities include writing letters, checking information, scheduling travel, communicating with teachers and students, and research of educational themes. Knowledge of theatre is a plus.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Thespian Festival

  • Serve as integral team member for Festival planning and execution.
  • Process applications for the auditions program, including: checking forms for qualifying criteria, communicating with students and teachers to enforce deadlines, and creating all audition binders and flash drives for college representatives and audition judges.
  • Supervise Chapter Select Showcase including setting the performance schedule, managing communication, and preparing schedules and support forms for the theatre, and writing/mailing thank-you’s and certificates, etc.
  • Coordinate Freestyle Theatre including sign-up, mailing confirmation letters, answering questions, scheduling, and writing and mailing thank-you’s and certificates, etc.
  • Assist with research, copying, typing and other Festival responsibilities as needed.
  • Copy all security reports and create all security binders.
  • Travel to event and work in assigned areas, such as office management, workshop assistance, and I.E. assistance.

Junior Festivals

Under the guidance of the Event Coordinator:

  • Provide administrative support for Junior Festivals.
  • Prepare all information for the registration confirmation packets, including: directions, maps, shuttle services, rental car agencies, and airport information.
  • Prepare school floor plans for insertion in event program.
  • Travel to events as needed.
  • Prepare event program for printing, including: overall schedule, workshop descriptions and bios, and play information.
  • Research all theme topics for the Team Play-Create program and prepare educational packets for team directors.

General

Under the guidance of the department director:

  • prepare communications with all main stage screening teams, including writing invitation letters, preparing contact sheets, creating directions for screeners, and writing letters to the directors.
  • For all events assist with research, copying, typing, data entry or work as needed.
  • For all events assist with badge preparation, packet preparation, workshop handouts, and packing of all materials and supplies.
  • Assist with review and revisions of online registration sites.
  • Oversee/assist with all accounts receivable collections.
  • Travel, on behalf of the association, as needed, for event support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by authorized co-workers.

COMPUTER SYSTEMS USED: Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Mozilla. Adobe Acrobat and Association Management Software a plus.

Ohio Metropolitan Pops Orchestra Seeks String Players

Hello All,

The Ohio Metropolitan Pops Orchestra is excepting new string players for our fall and winter season, featuring music from “Lion King,” “Lord of the Rings,” S”uperman,” “Beauty and the Beast” and many other great scores!! We are a full 60 piece pops orchestra with an 80 voice chorale in concert with some of the finest soloist in Cincinnati! If you are a great Violin, Viola, Cello or Bass player, we are looking for you!

Our orchestra does pay for your time & travel with pay raises expected in 2013! Come be part of the best Community Pops orchestra anywhere! We are excepting advanced high School students and students in book five or higher of Suzuki!

Rehearsals are in Mason and start on July 30th with concerts on Sept 20, 21, 22 also Dec 13, 14, 15
