Directors Call for 2019-2020 Season at Footlighters

fli_logoThe Footlighters, Inc. is accepting submissions for directors for the 2019-2020 season. If you would like to be considered, please send the following information to Janet Wisner, Chair of the Director/Play Selection Committee, at janet.wisner@possible.com. Please include ‘Director Submission’ in the subject line of the email.

  • A one-page letter of interest briefly detailing 2-4 shows you’re interested in directing.
  • A theater resume that includes your contact information.

The deadline to submit materials is Friday, September 14, 2018. Interested directors will be contacted the week of September 24th to schedule interviews, which will take place at the Stained Glass Theatre in early October. When you are selected for an interview, you will be asked to provide more specific information about the shows you are interested in directing, including potential production staff.

Plans are to produce a 4-show season for 2019-2020. We already have our fall production secured, Mamma Mia, so we are looking for three shows (plays and musicals) to round out our season. Exact show dates will be decided by the Board of Directors this fall.

Footlighters, Inc. was founded in 1963 and since 1987 has owned its own facility, The Stained Glass Theatre in Newport, KY. It continually attracts outstanding talent for its productions, and has received local, state, and national awards for outstanding production quality, individual and ensemble performances, and technical achievements.

Contracted Teaching Artists in Musical Theatre/Dance, Vocal Music and Acting Sought by Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati

TCT’s mission is to educate, entertain and engage audiences of all ages through professional theatrical productions and arts education programming.  We fulfill our mission through three primary programs:

  • TCT MainStage at the Taft Theatre – We welcome over 102,000 children, teachers, and family members from across the Tri-State, to one of our four family-friendly and professional musical theater productions at the historic Taft.
  • TCT On Tour – We see over 83,000 children and their families at one of our touring performances or during an arts-integration workshop or residency.
  • TCT Academy – Over 1,200 children will be provided fine arts instruction, including the group that participates in the four-week intensive summer NKU STAR Intensive and three-week STAR Red Bank program where we offer professional musical theatre training to some of the region’s most talented youth.

Position Overviews:
TCT is seeking contracted teaching artists in the areas of Musical Theatre/Dance, Vocal Music and Acting to teach classes during our fall and winter/spring seven and fifteen-week Academy sessions. 

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching multiple classes within your performance discipline at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
  • Following, and assisting with developing/revising, existing lesson plan curricula.
  • Conducting student assessments, following an established rubric, for distribution to parents at the end of a class session.
  • Use of class registration system (Active Network) to communicate with parents/students in your classes.
  • Ordering and maintaining supplies needed for your classes while keeping to an established budget. 

Ideal and Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate holds a BFA in a performing arts field, and possesses the passion to educate, engage and build the next generation of performing artists. A High School Diploma or GED and 3-5 years of theatrical teaching experience is required at a minimum.

Must possess the ability to connect with young audiences and students to teach valuable lessons pertaining to the performing arts.  Must be available to work nights and weekends.

Call for Directors for 2019 Summer Musical at Bart’s Bards

BB_logoBart’s Bards, a Christian theatrical ministry of St. Bartholomew Parish, is holding an Open Call for Directors for our summer 2019 musical. Dates for the run are Thursday, June 20 (evening); Friday, June 21 (evening); Saturday, June 22 (matinee and evening); and Sunday, June 23 (matinee).

The show will be performed on the Ray Sowell Commemorative Stage in the Fr. William F. Krumpe Activity Center in Springfield Township, OH. Interested persons should email Joy Niehaus at joy.niehaus@yahoo.com  to confirm a 45-minute appointment time on one of the following dates:

  • Saturday, September 8, 2018, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
  • Monday, September 10, 2018, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM

You may pitch one of these 3 shows:

  1. Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella
  2. Willy Wonka
  3. The Music Man

**You may also pitch a show of your choice; however, it must include a significant number of children in the cast. Widely recognizable shows are preferred.

Please note: while we will be as flexible as possible if more time is needed to pitch multiple shows, timing may be restricted due to the number of directors presenting.

We will hear your pitch(es) and spend some time talking with you about our theatre community and hearing from you about your practices and expectations as a director. Please bring along your theatrical resumé and contact information.

NKU Theatre + Dance Program seeks boy actor for upcoming production of BIG FISH: The Musical

NKU_SOTA logoSeeking a boy actor, preferably age 9-10 (the character needs to look 6-7 yrs old) to play “Young Will” in BIG FISH, directed by Jamey Strawn.

This role requires the ability to deliver lines, learn movement, and a small amount of singing.

Rehearsals start Aug. 24. Rehearsals are typically in the evening Sun-Fri 7-10:30 p.m., although this role will not need to be at all rehearsals.

The show runs nightly Sept. 27 to Oct. 7. To apply, email headshot and resume to Jamey Strawn no later than Aug. 15. You may also include a YouTube link to performance material as well.
