Summer Camp Counselor Sought by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park seeks camp counselors for our Summer Theatre Day Camp. Counselors help facilitate all aspects of camp, including serving as role models who assist and motivate campers. Throughout the day counselors facilitate their group’s activities including check-in and check-out, proctor student breaks, and support Teaching Artists as teaching assistants during classes. Ideal candidates have completed or are working towards a college degree, have experience working with children and are enthusiastic about teaching theatre to youth. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Goup Leader for one group each week or floater as needed
  • Lead morning warm-up and afternoon group activities
  • Escort students to each class & assist Teaching Artists during classes
  • Proctor all student breaks and lunch
  • Provide assistance with room and administrative prep
  • Coach students one-on-one

Orientation/Prep Week: May 28 – May 31, 9:00am-5:00pm

  • LOCATION: Playhouse in the Park

Camp dates: June 3 – August 2 (off the week of July 1-5)

  • LOCATION: Offsite venues or the Playhouse in the Park

Hours: (subject to change depending on needs of location) Shift 1: 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday Shift 2: 8:15am-5:15pm, Monday-Friday Shift 3: 8:45am-5:45pm, Monday-Friday Pay Rate: $10/hour

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

CAMPER SUPERVISION

  • Check campers in and out every day
  • Lead morning warm-up with assigned group
  • Facilitate afternoon assembly each afternoon
  • Provide supervision during snack, breaks and lunch
  • Coach students one-on-one or in small groups as needed
  • Demonstrate for students and support them during classes
  • Maintain a positive and team-focused atmosphere

CAMP SUPPORT

  • Set up lunch area each day and tear down
  • Provide breaks for other counselors as assigned
  • Clean up rooms at end of each day
  • Demo Day presentation support
  • Prep supplies as needed

SAFETY

  • Write up injury reports for students
  • Manage basic injury and ailment needs
  • Report all injuries and issues to the Camp Coordinator

GENERAL TASKS

  • Other tasks as assigned

COMPETENCIES

  • Experience working with children, working in a large group setting preferred
  • Experience with administrative processes preferred
  • Currently attending college, graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree, or commensurate experience.
  • Good email communication skills
  • Experience with customer service
  • Organized and able to solve problems quickly and positively

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • This position is partially sedentary and the employee is required to regularly talk and hear.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.

Cincinnati Beer Barons Sought for Beer Heritage Trail Grand Opening

Seeking 3 adult men [ 25 and up]  to portray Cincinnati Beer Barons for an afternoon.

We supply short script, costume , beer tickets and pay a stipend.  You must be available from 10am-4 pm on the 27th and  go for a costume fitting.

Casting THE CHRISTMAS MASTERPIECE a film in the traditional style of a Hallmark holiday production, but not quite so romantic or predictable. The story revolves around a precocious 14 year old Emma, who has lost her mother and must now live with grandparents in another town. Her flair with painting leads her to help revitalize the small town of Lakeside. Her spirit and drive help bring together the town and discover it can move on.

    Staid in his ways grandfather of Emma; attempts to be controlling of his wife and grand daughter.

  • Tre Livingston (Supporting): Male, 33-45
    A handsome out of town blogger, who generates publicity for the arts festival.

    A high school student, a cheerleader and known for her heavy makeup. She believes she is Blake’s girlfriend.

    The good looking, impeccably dressed, professional type fiancee to Cassie. Ellis wants to take Cassie out of the small town.

Rehearsal and Production Dates & Locations: Shoots July 8, – August 2, 2019 in Cincinnati, OH.

Compensation & Union Contract Details:

Actor Needed for FALLEN ANGELS at Commonwealth Theatre Company

CTC_logoThe NKU Commonwealth Theatre is looking for a male actor, 30s-40s, for their production of Noel Coward’s FALLEN ANGELS. A British accent is necessary.

Rehearsals start around May 12 and the show runs June 7-23, with Mondays and Tuesdays dark.

Open Casting Call for Supernumerary Roles for Cincinnati Opera’s 2019 Summer Season

CINCINNATI—Cincinnati Opera will hold an open casting call for supernumerary roles in the company’s 2019 Summer Festival. An information and casting session is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2 at 5:30 p.m. in the Presidents’ Garret on the 4th floor of the Corbett Opera Center in Music Hall, 1243 Elm Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202.

Cincinnati Opera seeks applicants for the following roles:

The Marriage of Figaro
Commitment period: May 21–June 15
Performances: June 13 & 15
4 supers needed

  • 4 liveried servants: Playing an integral role throughout the opera, these supers will lift and move items, with a bit of acting. They will move furniture and walls for set changes. All four should present as male.

Romeo and Juliet
Commitment period: June 5–June 29
Performances: June 27 & 29
4 supers needed

  • 1 older monk
  • 1 Lady Capulet
  • 1 Lady Montague
  • 1 Lord Montague/older monk 

Ariadne auf Naxos
Commitment period: June 11–July 14
Performances: July 6, 11, 13 & 14
8 supers needed

  • 4 men to act as household staff
  • 2 men to portray party hosts
  • 2 women to portray party hostesses

Porgy and Bess
Commitment period: June 21–July 28
Performances: July 20, 25, 27 & 28
11 supers needed

  • 4 African American adults to play residents of Catfish Row (dance experience preferred)
  • 6 African American children ages 5-14 (3 boys & 3 girls), residents of Catfish Row
  • 1 Caucasian man to play a police officer

Supernumerary or “super” roles are non-singing, non-speaking roles, much like extras in film and television. Supers will share the stage with internationally renowned artists and work with celebrated directors and conductors. The Marriage of FigaroRomeo and Juliet, and Porgy and Bess will be presented in Springer Auditorium at Music Hall, with a capacity of about 2,300 people per performance. Ariadne auf Naxos will be presented in the Corbett Theater at The School for Creative and Performing Arts, with a 750-seat capacity. Supers are required to attend approximately 10-15 rehearsals. Daytime rehearsals may be scheduled. No experience is necessary and all super positions are filled on a voluntary basis.
