Auditions Announced for OUTSIDE MULLINGAR at Dayton Theatre Guild

DTGOpen audition notice for OUTSIDE MULLINGAR by John Patrick Shanley

Auditions will be held Mon & Tue, July 6 & 7, 2015, starting at 7:00 pm both nights.

The Dayton Theatre Guild at the Caryl D. Philip TheatreScape
430 Wayne Ave, Dayton OH, 45410
937-278-5993 — http://www.daytontheatreguild.org

Directed by David Shough
Produced by K.L.Storer

A funny, bittersweet, and, in the end, joyous romantic comedy by John Patrick Shanley, the Pulitzer Prize winning author of DOUBT and MOONSTRUCK. His first play set in his ancestral Irish countryside, its 2014 New York premiere earned a Best Play Tony nomination. Now making the rounds of regional professional theatres, ours will be the first non-professional production in Ohio and only the third in the nation.

Anthony and Rosemary grew up together on neighboring farms – he unnaturally shy, she supremely patient. As their parents pass, one by one, they come face-to-face with the future and with each other, and struggle to find their path to happiness.

Casting Requirements:

• A résumé and headshot are not required but are appreciated.
• Please provide a list of all known conflicts between July 8 & Sep 6, 2015 *(Participation in FutureFest is not a disqualifying conflict.)
• Audition selections will be available for download beginning in June
• Familiarity with (but not memorization of) the selections will be a good thing at audition; cold readings demonstrate your ability to read; the director would like to see something of your ability to create a character.
• You need only attend one night, but are welcome at both. If you cannot attend either audition date, contact the director at davids@pbstudios.com or 937-626-2674, and we will make time.

*A note about the Irish accent and auditions: It needn’t be a finished product at auditions; there will be assistance during the rehearsal process. But give it a go; there are a number of how-to videos on the web; you can even watch Irish TV (http://www.irishtv.ie/) to hear authentic modern Irish accents. The Irish accent is one of the most beautiful and fun to do of all English-speaking dialects. At the least, we will need to see at least some facility with accents in general, preferably other British Isles accents if not Irish. Do your best and have fun.

Performance dates: August 21 – September 6, 2015.

Seeking 2 women, 2 men. Please see detailed descriptions of the roles below.
All characters will use Irish accents. Please take your best shot at the accent at auditions. Race is not relevant.

-) Tony Reilly:
Shanley describes him as “a wily old Irishman. Tony is seventy-five or so, and his eyes are sly.” He is a gruff, stubborn, country farmer, with a deeply hidden sentimental side.

-) Aoife (pronounced: EE-fuh) Muldoon:
Shanley says, “She is seventy, in bad health, short of breath, and a bit ravaged with grief” over the death her husband, but as stubborn as the lot of them.

-) Anthony Reilly:
Shanley says, “Anthony is forty-two and his eyes are those of an intense dreamer.” He is Tony’s son, shy, ill at ease, content and yet not content with his station in life.

-) Rosemary Muldoon
Aoife’s daughter, thirty-six. Anthony and Rosemary grew up together, on their respective neighboring farms. Her mother calls her “stubborn to the point of madness.” Strong, determined, with a kind of beauty to her that has drawn the attention of the young men of the county. She can feel what the future will be.

Auditions Announced for LYSISTRATA at Stone on a Walk Theatre

SOAW_logoStone on a Walk Theatre Holds Auditions for LYSISTRATA By Aristophanes

Directed by Katie Lupica (of Cincy Fringe’s “Chemistry”)

Saturday, June 13 2:00-6:00 BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

Auditions:
You will be expected to cold read a few selections from the script and can also perform a 60 second monologue if you wish.

Auditions will be June 13 by appointment only in Over-the-Rhine. Please email StoneWalkTheatre@gmail.com with your resume and a headshot (or photo of yourself) for more information and to set up a time.

Show Description:
The women of Greece give their husbands an ultimatum: stop fighting or no sex again. Almost 2500 years later, this show’s blend of political satire and dirty comedy still stand up today. In the same breath, Aristophanes is able to discuss erections, elections, fake pregnancies, and feminism. Think dick jokes and the “Real Housewives of Athens” that secretly discusses heavy issues.

Casting Requirements:
There are a total of 6 parts which require a fair bit of doubling up roles and possibly some cross dressing with age-ranges varying greatly. Visit the website to see a more specific breakdown of some of the characters.

VOI_logoThe Wait Is Over…

Voices of Broadway presents MARY POPPINS

We experienced a bit of a delay – thank you for your patience!

At Voices of Indiana, we do our summer musicals a bit differently. Everyone gets to participate. There are no cuts…we cast everyone! (However, we do ask young singers be in at least 4th grade.) There is a small fee to participate. Please see the website for registration information.

We start by “Learning the Show.” Then, those who wish to audition for a role may do so. Due to our delayed start and the quick turnaround of this communication, we have multiple opportunities to learn and audition. If your schedule will allow, please plan to come to both “Learn” sessions, even if you do not plan to audition for a role.

To audition, please prepare a selection or at least 16 bars from the show (using music is okay), or another piece in the same style.

Please select only one audition opportunity.
The following sessions will all be at Lawrenceburg High School,
in the choir room. (Enter Door 13.)
LEARN THE SHOW:
Monday, June 1, 5:30-7:30 PM
and/or
Tuesday, June 2, 5:30-7:30 PM
Optional role auditions will follow each session…

ROLE AUDITIONS:
(auditioning for a role is optional)
Monday, June 1, starting at 8:00 PM
Tuesday, June 2, starting at 8:00 PM
Thursday, June 4, starting at 5:30 PM

We sincerely hope that these multiple sessions will fit with everyone’s schedule. If not, please contact me (Kristin) at 812.260.2020 to make alternate arrangements.

We will start with full rehearsals the week of June 8th. In general, all will be called Monday evenings, with additional rehearsals for leads and young singers.
Thank you – any questions, please email to info@voicesofindiana.org.
