Auditions Announced for THE COLOR PURPLE at La Comedia Dinner Theatre

LAC_logoLa Comedia Dinner Theatre in Springboro, Ohio, will hold auditions for their upcoming production, THE COLOR PURPLE on Saturday, November 4, 2017, 10:00 a.m., at 765 W. Central Ave., Springboro, Ohio.

SEEKING – All roles are African American.

  • CELIE: 20-35, strong singing voice with belt. A woman from Georgia whose character drives the story, vulnerable, mischievous, sense of humor.
  • SHUG AVERY: 30-50, bluesy singing voice. Dynamic, powerful, Mister’s long time love, a singer from Memphis.
  • SOFIA: 30-50, strong singing voice with belt. Powerful woman, physically bigger, beautiful. Harpo’s wife, needs to have strong sense of comedy.
  • NETTIE: 20-40, strong singing voice with belt. Celie’s younger sister, attractive, adventuresome, feisty, educated.

  • CHURCH LADIES: Trio of ladies who are busybody types and gossip about the townspeople, narrate through the story.

  • MISTER: 30-50, commanding voice, handsome, dynamic, powerful.

  • HARPO: 20-40, strong tenor, vulnerable, Mister’s good-hearted son, tries to control wife Sofia.

  • PA: Strong baritone singer, commanding actor.

  • ENSEMBLE: African American men and women to play multiple roles as well as understudy principals.

Sing 16 bars of a song stylistically appropriate to the show.

Rehearsals begin February 5, 2018. Performances February 22 – April 15, 2018.

Auditions Announced for MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET at RiverStage Community Theatre

Auditions (speaking and extras)  to be cast from ALL age groups:

  • Elementary School students (including lead Susan Walker, age 7-9)
  • High School Students
  • Adults

We are in search of youngest children to actors of mature years.

Auditions Announced for THE STING at The Drama Workshop

TDW_VERTThe Drama Workshop announces auditions for the May 2018 production of THE STING.

  • Monday, 10/16 – 7:00 – 9:00 pm
  • Saturday, 10/21 – 1:00 – 4:00 pm
  • Tuesday, 10/24 – 7:00 – 9:00 pm

Based on the 1973 film, THE STING comes to the Glenmore Playhouse stage! The strains of jazz, swing and stride spill from every bar and fill the airwaves of Chicago. It’s 1936 and confidence trickster Johnny Hooker is set on revenge for the murder of his friend by powerful and dangerous mobster, Doyle Lonnegan. Teaming up with the greatest con artist of them all, Henry Gondorff, together they plot to pull off The Sting, an outrageous and elaborate con trick designed to rob Lonnegan of his fortune.

Auditions will be held at The Glenmore Playhouse, 3716 Glenmore Ave, Cheviot, OH 45211 on:

  • Monday, October 16th – Doors will open at 6:30pm, and auditions will
    begin promptly at 7pm
  • Saturday, October 21st – Doors will open at 12:30pm, and auditions will
    begin promptly at 1pm
  • Tuesday, October 24th – Doors will open at 6:30pm, and auditions will
    begin promptly at 7pm

Callbacks (if needed) will be scheduled based on performer availability

With 56 characters, director Fred Hunt is looking to cast many multi-talented performers. Opportunities abound for gamblers, con men (and women), FBI agents, show girls and other assorted cameo roles for a cast of talented performers diverse in appearance and age. Many performers will likely be cast in multiple roles. A cameo role for a young girl is also available.

Please bring conflict information for the period of January 15, 2018 through May 20, 2018.

Show dates are May 4 through May 20, 2018.
Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 pm, Sunday afternoon at 2 pm.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. No appointment necessary, auditions will be conducted in approximate order of arrival. 

Headshots and resumes are appreciated but not required.

  • JOHNNY HOOKER – Male – a younger grifter
  • HENRY GONDORFF – Male – a seasoned con man
  • DOYLE LONNAGEN – Male – a shady business man
  • MRS. VANDERKIEFT – Female – a mature woman who shares the story
  • CYNTHIA HASTINGS – Female – a writer interviewing Mrs. Vanderkieft
  • SNYDER – Male -a hard-boiled detective from Joliet
  • BILLIE – Female – the owner of a Chicago dance hall
  • KID TWIST – Male – older veteran con man working the Sting
  • IVY NILES – Female – veteran con woman working The Sting
  • J. J. SINGLETON – Male – veteran fast talking con man and con aficionado

Auditions Announced for HOT MIC at Improv Cincinnati

When: Sunday October 15th 3-5pm

Where: Auditions will be held at Clifton Performance Theatre – 404 Ludlow Ave.

Improv Cincinnati is looking for actors who are positive, confident, and who have experience and/or interest in performing in musical theatre. Improv experience is desired but not required. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for musicals and a high level of skill at voice and movement.

Auditions Announced for THE FANTASTICKS at Mason Community Players

MCP_logoBe a part of MCP’s opening show of the 2018 Season … THE FANTASTICKS.

Director Rebecca Brewer and Musical Director Sara Davis are looking forward to greeting you at auditions. Auditions will be held Friday, October 20, from 6:00-8:30 PM and Saturday, October 21 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Theatre 42. The theatre is located at 2752 S US Route 42, Lebanon, OH 45036. It is one driveway beyond the Southwest Golf Ranch coming north from Mason.

Those auditioning should be prepared to sing 16 to 32 measures of a song that showcases your vocal talent. It should not be one from THE FANTASTICKS. Please bring sheet music for the accompanist. Singing acapella or to a taped track will not be acceptable. Those who are interested in the roles of Henry, Mortimer or the Mime will not be required to present a vocal audition.

The audition process will include cold readings from the script.
