Video Auditions Announced for CLOS(IN)G at American Legacy Theatre

MISSION
American Legacy Theatre generates inviting, reimagined theatrical experiences for all people to have a voice in enriching society.

PROJECT
Clos(in)g is a new play by Megan Benjamin Bennett, developed through ALT’s Playwrights for Change residency program, that is in its 2nd round of workshops. Set inside a soon-to-be-shuttered apartment building, the piece explores family, love, and the constant act of code-switching to survive.

As neighbors face the loss of their homes, the story unpacks what it means to belong — and what’s at stake when communities are displaced. At its heart, Clos(in)g is about resilience, relationships, and the fight to hold on when the world tells you to let go.

TIMELINE
Video Auditions: NOW. Submit by March 13th, 2026 for first consideration. Auditions accepted after as well.

Rehearsals: May 11th, 2026 – May 15th, 2026 ; 6:00pm – 10:00pm (2-3 hour rehearsals each day in this timeframe, exact time TBD)

Performances: May 16th 6:00pm-10:00pm, May 17th 5:00pm-9:00pm

  • Prepare no more than 2 of the attached sides provided in the Casting Call.

EXPECTATIONS
The Actor will structure, manage and execute the steps required to implement a high-quality acting process that serves the integrity of the musical, bonds the other artists, aligns artistic vision, and heightens audience engagement with the piece. 

COMPENSATION

This contract provides a one-time stipend of $225. 

Artists are able to earn additional compensation for key audience referrals.

Auditions Announced for THE NANCE at Middletown Lyric Theatre

SYNOPSIS:
A bold, heartfelt comedy/drama set in 1930s New York, where burlesque and politics collide. At its center is Chauncey Miles, a witty performer who plays the flamboyant “Nance” caricature onstage, an outrageous stereotype of a gay man, while secretly living as one in a world that refuses to accept him. As Mayor LaGuardia cracks down on “indecency” in entertainment, Chauncey grapples with the rising tide of censorship, the costs of hiding his true self, and a surprising romance that threatens his carefully constructed facade. A sharp blend of comedy, tragedy, music and showbiz sparkle, The Nance explores identity, repression, and the fight for dignity with unflinching honesty. This play deals with mature themes, gay & political issues and suggestive humor of the era. Recommended for 16+​

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
You must complete an audition form & sign up for an audition time slot cold reading from the script

CHARACTERS
While this is a play with music. Musical abilities is a bonus as there is light singing and movement. The three female burlesque performers will be costumed in “burlesque style” costumes. (no nudity) They are bold, brash and unapologetic. They all have been around the block and then some. This is an historic piece and deals with burlesque style humor, there is no room for being offended by jokes and dialogue that may be considered inappropriate by today’s standards. When it comes to singing the males are baritones and there are 2 mezzo-sopranos and one alto. Do not let your fear of singing keep you from auditioning.

Chauncey Miles:
Should appear to be in his mid 40’s. He is a closeted gay comic who plays a “nance” on-stage. Witty, quick humored, sarcastic and a little bitter about life. On stage he is over-the-top. This will be a challenging but albeit rewarding role for even the most seasoned performer. The actor must be comfortable with male intimacy.

NED:
Should appear to be in his 20’s. Good-looking, fit and a little innocent. He was once married but now shares in a secret relationship with Chauncey. He later becomes a stage performer. Role will require the illusion of being nude. Must be comfortable with male intimacy.

EPHRAIM:
Should appear to be in his 50’s. Straight, homophobic, a little gruff and is the lead comedian and theatre manager.

SYLVIE:
Should appear to be in her mid 20’s to early 30’s. A burlesque dancer and member of the communist party. Not afraid to argue politics.

JOAN:
Should appear to be in her 20’s. Somewhat innocent, perky and vivacious.

CARMEN:
Should appear to be in her mid 20’s to early 30’s. On stage she specializes in playing with an exaggerated Latin-American accent.

There are two additional roles one female and one male. These are non-singing roles who may play a variety of characters both verbal and non-verbal. Both should range in age from 30’s to 50’s

Stage Right Announces Auditions for Summer’s 9 TO 5 the Musical!
Dolly Parton’s Musical Comedy kicks off 10th Season

Williamstown, KY – Stage Right Musical Theatre Company is thrilled to announce auditions for their summer production of: ”9 to 5 the Musical” running June 12 – 28th at the Williamstown Performing Arts Center.

Auditions will be held:

Rehearsal Dates: May 11 – Jun 11, 2026 (Weeknight evening rehearsals and midday rehearsal on the weekend)
Stage Right understands that the majority of our artists are coming from away. We value the time of our artists and work to make sure actors are only called if they are working.
Show Dates: June 12 – 28 (Thursday – Sunday performances)

This summer getting even is a full-time job. 9 to 5 is a high-energy, laugh-out-loud story of friendship, empowerment, and turning the tables. Based on the hit 1980 film and featuring music and lyrics by the legendary Dolly Parton, the show follows three working women in the 1980s, trying their best to navigate life, work, and a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot of a boss. Packed with catchy songs, bold humor, and heartfelt moments, 9 to 5 celebrates standing up for yourself, supporting one another, and proving that change is possible when you refuse to settle. Get ready for big laughs, big hair, and big fun!

Character Description: All Actors must be 18 years old or older

Violet: The company’s Head Secretary and Mr. Hart’s Administrative Assistant, she is a single mother and typically
stands up for what she believes in. Attractive, strong, ambitious.

Doralee: A young, sexy spitfire who works at Mr. Hart’s office. She is proof that there is more to a woman than just
her looks.

Judy: The “new” girl at the firm, she has been burned by her husband’s affair and is searching for personal
empowerment. Insecure, determined, and hopeful.

Franklin Hart: One of the firm’s executives and a notorious chauvinist. He is capable of faking charm but usually
shows his true colors as an arrogant, self-absorbed boss.

Roz Keith: The attentive office gossip queen and snitch. She has an unrequited love for Mr. Hart and will do anything
she can to win his approval.

Joe: A handsome, young office accountant. Genuine and nice, and smitten with Violet.

Dwayne: Doralee’s attractive husband. He is very supportive of her professional pursuits.

Margaret: A secretary in Hart’s office with a tendency to drink.

Tinsworthy: Franklin Hart’s boss and Chairman of the Board. A good man, who may be wiser to Hart’s ways than he
lets on.
