TDW_Play OnPLAY ON!
The Drama Workshop
Aug. 2-18
Glenmore Playhouse [Cheviot]

Directed by Victoria Covarrubias

Cast: Robert Brumberg as Saul, Rob Bucher as Gerry, James Covarrubias as Billy, Kat Falk as Aggie, Jessie Faye as Louise, Allison Friessen as Violet, Emily Gast as Smitty, Elizabeth Hickerson as Phyllis, Micheal Kiser as Michael & Kathryn Muck as Polly

PLAY ON! is a hilarious comedy of a play within a play. A theatre group is trying and failing in different ways to put on a play despite the haughty author who keeps revising the script. Act I is a rehearsal of the dreadful show, Act II is the near disastrous dress rehearsal, and the final act is the actual performance, in which anything that can go wrong, does. When the author decides to give a speech on the state of modern theatre during the curtain call, the audience is treated to a madcap climax and a thoroughly hilarious romp. Even the sound effects reap their share of laughter.

KINDRED SPIRITS Runs Aug. 2-18

CSC_Kindred SpiritsKINDRED SPIRITS
Cincinnati Shakespeare Company
Aug. 2-18
[Over-the-Rhine]

Directed by Brian Isaac Phillips

Cast: Tora Nogami Alexander as Claire Porter, Jasimine Bouldin as Ruth, Connie Castanzo as Avis Walker, Courtney Lucien as Elvira, Kelly Mengelkoch as Madame Arcati, Christine Pedi as Gertrude Condomine & Austin Tichenor as Charles Condomine

In this World Premiere sequel to Noël Coward’s Blithe Spirit, the whimsical chaos of the spirit world collides, once again, with the realm of the living. Haunted by his past loves (literally), Charles Condomine finds it challenging to finish his latest book and pursue a beguiling love interest. Romance, jealousy, and unexpected reunions combine for a spirited, comedic romp, filled with witty repartee and otherworldly surprises. In Kindred Spirits, Alice Scovell–the playwright behind the Oscar Wilde sequel The Rewards of Being Frank–brings back to life many of Coward’s beloved characters, and introduces a few new, memorable ones.
