CenterStage Players to Present World Premiere of INCORRIGIBLE

CSP_Incorrigible logo(Cincinnati, OH) – The CenterStage Players are scheduled to stage the world premiere of ‘Incorrigible’ which will open on Friday, February 18 and run for two weekends. INCORRIGIBLE is the second full length play written by local playwright Teri Foltz.  Her first production (The Faculty Lounge) was premiered at Ft. Thomas’ Village Players in 2016 and was subsequently produced by Chicago’s Oil Lamp Theatre in 2017.  The cast and crew of INCORRIGIBLE features individuals from throughout the tri-state area.

INCORRIGIBLE follows the story of a high school senior who deals with his inner grief in a rebellious manner.  As the story progresses, the audience is shown how other characters deal with emotions of grief, shame, and anger.  Sigmund Freud said, “Unexpressed emotions will never die.  They are buried alive and will come forth later in ugly ways.”  Every character in INCORRIGIBLE is dealing with grief, shame, and anger.  And they suffer silently and alone.  Everybody has a past . . . some people still live there.

Performances will be February 18, 19, 25, and 26 at 8:00 PM, and February 20 and 27 at 2:00 PM.  All performances will be at Lockland High School – 249 W. Forrer Avenue – Cincinnati, OH.  There will be a special talkback session with the playwright on Sunday, February 20 immediately following the matinee performance.  Advance tickets are available at www.centerstageplayersinc.com.

A Buzz-Worthy Drama – ETC Presents Regional Premiere QUEEN

ETC_Queen logoEnsemble Theatre Cincinnati Presents regional premiere QUEEN,
February 19 – March 19, 2022

(Cincinnati, OH) Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati (ETC) kicks off the new year with the regional premiere drama Queen by award-winning playwright Madhuri Shekar. A new play that’s created quite a buzz, Queen is a provocative portrayal of brilliant women confronting inconvenient truths. This high-stakes story of integrity, bioethics, friendship, and the survival of bee populations comes to the ETC stage February 19-March 19, 2022. Directed by Bridget Leak.

PhD candidates Sanam and Ariel have spent the better part of the last decade exhaustively researching vanishing bee populations across the globe. Just as these close friends are about to publish a career-defining paper, Sanam stumbles upon an error in their calculations, which could cause catastrophic damage to their reputations, careers, and friendship. Now, Sanam is confronted with an impossible choice: look the other way or stand by her principles and accept the consequences?

“It was very important to me to do a play not only about the ethics of science and academia, but also ethics in honesty. Not only does Queen combine these ideas, but it does so in a very personal way,” says Producing Artistic Director D. Lynn Meyers. “Queen shows audiences that every decision we make should be an ethical one. Whether we’re fighting COVID-19, or we’re fighting to save our planet, or we’re fighting to do what is true to ourselves, ethics is import. I hope we can look at this play as a community to celebrate the important mission we need to undertake to save the bees and our world.”

Mask and Vaccination Requirements
ETC requires all patrons and visitors to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative test certification and to wear face masks at all times while on the premises. For full health and safety policy information, visit our website at www.ensemblecincinnati.org/health-safety.

Dreams Really Do Come True Feb. 17-27 at Music Hall

CB_Cinderella promo1Cincinnati Ballet presents the classic fairytale, CINDERELLA

Cincinnati, OH (February 7, 2022) – Have a ball and fall in love with CINDERELLA February 17 – 27, 2022. CINDERELLA returns to Music Hall with choreography by Artistic Director Victoria Morgan, as we continue the celebration of her 25th and final season as the Company’s artistic leader. The modern take on the classic story includes puppetry, magic illusions, and Sergei Prokofiev’s buoyant score performed live by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Carmon DeLeone.

The plucky heroine’s good deeds awaken a magical love story thanks to a little help from her Fairy Godmother. “Of course, we all know the premise of this rags-to-riches story – a humble yet plucky heroine who finds her true place in the world! While there are obstacles along the way, in the end, her dreams do come true,” said Victoria Morgan. “When I choreographed Cinderella, I was drawn to the archetypal elements of the centuries-old story — tiny mice who act as friends and confessors for our heroine, the villainous, but humorous stepsisters, and the benevolent fairy godmother. The storytelling resonates will so many of us because we recognize these characters and elements in our own lives.” Laugh out loud with the riotous Stepsisters and marvel as an ordinary pumpkin transforms onstage into a spectacular carriage. Cinderella also has some pint-sized companions – her well-known mice friends will accompany her on stage as puppets ‘danced’ by Second Company CB2 artists. Several dozen young performers from Cincinnati Ballet’s Otto M. Budig Academy will also perform in the production, making it the perfect fit for entertaining families.

Based on the 1697 story by Charles Perrault, Cinderella tells the story of young woman whose hard work and good deeds go unrecognized by her stepmother and stepsisters. She remains hopeful, despite her odds, until one day she is visited by her Fairy Godmother who magically makes her dreams come true.

All Cincinnati Ballet dancers and Cincinnati Ballet Otto M. Budig Academy young performers appearing in the production are fully vaccinated. Due to health and safety guidelines, performers may wear face coverings during the production.

The health and safety of our patrons, artists and staff remain Cincinnati Ballet’s top priority. All ticket holders aged 12 and above are required to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination for entry into Cincinnati Music Hall. Proof of a negative COVID test will also be accepted in lieu of proof of vaccination. The negative test can either be a PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance or an antigen test by a healthcare or pharmacy provider within 24 hours. In addition, all guests regardless of age or vaccination status are required to wear face coverings at all times while inside the venue, including while seated in performance spaces. This policy will remain in effect until further notice. Cincinnati Ballet, along with our venue partners, will continue to closely monitor the rate of Covid-19 transmission in Hamilton County and assess and adjust accordingly. Additional Covid 19-related health protocols and requirements may be in effect at the time of future events. Cincinnati Ballet will communicate any changes via email prior to all affected performance.
