Local Married Mother of Two Debuts Fringe Show About Sex and Christmas Cards

CFF19_Sexmas CardsCINCINNATI, OH – Kate Mock Elliott grew up in Cincinnati. She got married in Cincinnati. She and her husband of ten years are raising their two daughters in Cincinnati. And at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival, she will be sharing humorous and explicitly personal details about her marriage and sex life. In front of her parents, Norah and Joe Mock.

The show is called seXmas Cards, and although it touches on sensitive topics like self-pleasure and consent, it is not looking for shock-value. It was inspired by Elliott anxiously wondering how she would explain these complex concepts to her two young daughters—who are currently only three years old and one year old. But as any type-A personality would tell you, it’s never too early to start planning.

At the heart of the show is the desire to challenge the confusion created by avoiding uncomfortable conversations. Confusion like thinking your water broke, when you just had a really good night. Yes, that happened. And yes, it’s in the show.

The one-woman show was written by Kate Mock Elliott and directed by Cincy Fringe favorite Erika Kate MacDonald (Evacuated!, 13 Dead Dreams of “Eugene”).

seXmas Cards is part of the Primary Lineup at the 2019 Cincinnati Fringe Festival.

ABOUT THE PERFORMER
Kate Mock Elliott holds a degree in music, has decades of professional performance experience including a national tour, and masquerades as a regular person with an office job. She is also a married mother of two with a habit of oversharing. After years of hearing, “You should write something,” she is honored to share that “something” at Cincy Fringe. And yes, she is Norah and Joe Mock’s daughter. (Hi, Mom and Dad!)
