Storytellers Needed for trueVETERAN at trueTHEATRE

TRUE_logoTrue Theatre launches Season 8 on Monday, October 30, in the beautiful Memorial Hall with “trueVETERAN”, a theme that couldn’t be more appropriate to their new digs (built, as it was, to honor Cincinnati Veterans of the Spanish-American War and U.S. Civil War).

We’re looking for 5 true, personal stories by- and about Veterans for this show.

Although True Theatre always seeks to approach each show’s theme from different angles, in this case we are looking only for stories about military veterans. Within that context, we will be seeking a variety of approaches to the theme.

It is likely that all (or most) of the storytellers in this show will be Veterans and stories will be about specific events that occurred while- or after serving, but we will entertain stories from people who may not be Veterans themselves, but who have been involved with a Veteran(s) and whose story is about that involvement.

We have a feeling that we will be receiving a lot of story submissions for this show, so we apologize in advance that we can only take 5.

If you have a story that you would like to be considered for inclusion in “trueVETERAN”, write us at stories@truetheatre.com or visit https://www.truetheatre. com/contact-1/.

Julia Dowling has an unexpected visitor who intends to escort her off to the afterlife.  Infusing comedy into the classic Death Takes a Holiday, The Christmas Spirit is set in contemporary Long Island.  Julia persuades Death to give her one more day to enjoy Christmas and invites him to be her guest at a festive party.  The next day the house fills with bickering relatives, friends, the local priest – and Death, masquerading as a human, singing carols and drinking egg nog.  Moments of high farce, drama and even romance arise as bright holiday fantasies collide with a not-so-merry reality.

Directed by Sherron Henry, performances run nOV. 9-19. For more information visit www.brookvillecommunitytheatre.com
