Auditions Announced for THE WOMEN at Dayton Playhouse

DPH_logoThe Dayton Playhouse is pleased to announce auditions for the comedy of manners, THE WOMEN to be held on Monday and Tuesday, January 23 & 24, 2017.  Auditions will be at 7 pm each evening at the Dayton Playhouse, 1301 E. Siebenthaler Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45414.   The director of this production will be Robb Willoughby.  The play is written by Clare Boothe Luce. Performances will be March 10-19, 2017.

THE WOMEN is a 1936 American play.  It is an acerbic commentary on the pampered lives and power struggles of various wealthy Manhattan socialites and up-and-comers and the gossip that propels and damages their relationships. While men frequently are the subject of their lively discussions and play an important role in the action on-stage, they are strictly characters mentioned but never seen.

The director will be casting 20 Women ages 20’s-60’s (good actresses of all shapes, colors and sizes, ten of these actresses will play “multiple parts”) and 1 Young Girl age 10-12.  Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script.  If possible, bring a resume and definitely be prepared to list all conflicts between January 23 and March 19. Questions should be sent to Robb Willoughby Willobee2000@aol.com.

2017 Season Announced by Mason Community Players

MCP_logoMCP is excited about its 2017 Season.

It will begin with a special season bonus … LOVE LOST REVUE. Like last year’s Sweetheart Revue, the evening will include dinner at the Houston Restaurant and dessert served up at Theatre 42. The show will be comprised of songs from many musical styles about how hope continues even when love’s journey is a little rocky. Maureen “Mo” Rettig will be at the helm once again leading MCP’s talented performers to an evening of great music!
LOVE LOST REVUE will be performed February, 17, 18, 24 & 25 at 8:00 with seating for the dinner occurring between 5:30 and 7:00 PM.

Spring brings us PRIDE & PREJUDICE. Directed by Becca McLaughlin, the play is based upon the novel by Jane Austen, considered one of the most iconic authors of 19th century England. Set in the regency period, the play is a study of relationship. Amid the gorgeous period costumes and the opulent set, will love be able to conquer pride and prejudice?

PRIDE & PREJUDICE will be performed March 31, April 1, 6, 7 & 8 at 8:00 PM and April 2 at 2:00 PM

Next summer, Director Shannon Mahoney will be bringing MCP audiences the popular and always highly-acclaimed THE WIZARD OF OZ. Yes, it’s time to travel to that magical place over the rainbow to visit talking scarecrows, dancing tin men and cowardly lions and to flee from flying monkeys and evil witches. This production that delights all ages will be presented in July. Get ready to follow the yellow brick road to the Munchkins and the Wizard.

THE WIZARD OF OZ will be performed July 14, 15, 20, 21 & 22 at 8:00 PM and July 16 at 2:00 PM.

In October 2017, MCP will welcome Gail Rudolph to its slate of directors as she takes the reins for THE CURIOUS SAVAGE by John Patrick. This breezy comedy finds a wealthy widow confined to a sanitarium by her conniving children, who are after her money. Full of twists and turns, the show is an endearing character study of a group of lovable misfits who rally to the widow’s side. You won’t want to miss this gem of a show … for how else will you know if the widow can outwit her greedy children in time to save the day?

THE CURIOUS SAVAGE will be performed October 6, 7, 12, 13 & 14 at 8:00 PM and October 8 at 2:00 PM.

MCP’s 2017 Season will wrap up in December as the group returns to Tuna, Texas for TUNA CHRISTMAS. That’s right. Your favorite characters will be back … Arles, Thurston, Didi, Bertha, Jody, Stanley, Charlene, Pearl, Vera, Petey, and more. Meet a few more residents of this third smallest town in Texas as they celebrate the holidays as only they can! The “entire” cast of MCP’s Greater Tuna along with all their Tuna Helpers, including Director Laureen Catlin, are slated to return.

TUNA CHRISTMAS will be performed December 1, 2, 7, 8 & 9 at 8:00 PM and December 3 at 2:00 PM.

All performances are at Theatre 42, 2752 S. US Route 42 just north of Mason, one driveway north of the Southwest Golf Ranch.

Season Tickets are available at a cost of $50 for adults and $45 for seniors. Just click here!

Individual shows are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for students with the exception of The Wizard of Oz. Due to the higher production costs for our summer musical, that show will be $17 for adults, $14 for seniors and $12 for students.

LOVE LOST REVUE is not included in the Season Package, but all Season Ticket holders will be contacted to offer them special reservations to the event.
