MLT Seeks Actor for LAST NIGHT AT BALLYHOO

MLT_logoROLE AVAILABLE: LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO

Middletown Lyric Theatre
1530 Central Ave.
Middletown, Ohio

Short Rehearsal Period: Last week of October through November –  3 – 4 rehearsals a week until production week.

Production runs: Dec. 5, 6, 12 & 13

CHARACTER
Joe Farkas a late twenties, Brooklyn Jew who has moved to the South to work for Adolph at the bedding company. Joe never went to college, but according to Sunny, he is “very bright.” Proud of his heritage, Joe is surprised to meet a family with no real sense of Jewish identity. Unlike the majority of the characters in the play, Joe manifests concern for the Jews in Europe, not simply because he has relatives there but because he feels a bond with his coreligionists. Joe is extremely sensitive to the prejudice that the Levys hold toward him—and any Eastern European Jews. When he finds out that the Standard Club does not allow his “kind” of Jew to belong, he leaves the dance and Sunny. He also accuses Sunny of “Jew hater talk.”

Please email Charley Shafor, Managing Artistic Director: cshafor@middletownlyric.org for an immediate audition.

SARGE and THE MONKEY’S PAW Run Oct. 10-20

CP_Sarge and Monkeys PawSARGE and THE MONKEY’S PAW
Presented by Clifton Players
Oct. 10-20
Clifton

Written and directed by Kevin Crowley

SARGE was the critic’s pick in the 2014 Cincinnati Fringe Festival, hailed as “a solid, unflinching portrayal of a woman in a state of crisis, yet trying to hold her life together.” [My Fringe review -Rob]

THE MONKEY’S PAW is a hilarious, surreal look at parenting and marriage. Mike and Tish’s son is missing. Tish can’t leave home until he returns and Mike can’t ever get the house clean enough. This play has been produced in London and NY and will have a limited run with SARGE.

LCT Gives NET’s THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED A 4-Star Recommendation

Jared Earland as Alex & Erin Ward as Ellen.

LCT panelists give a 4-star recommendation to “Little Dog Laughed” currently presented by New Edgecliff Theatre in Northside.

Panelists describe this comedy which “blends a subtle look at the fear of expressing love with a fierce satire of skittishness about homosexuality. Under director Lindsey Augusta Mercer the fine cast makes potentially stereotypical characters credible.”

“This production deserves to be seen by very full houses!” lauds an LCT panelist. Another panelist adds “A fine production of a fascinating, smart, hilarious, biting, and incisive script by Douglass Carter Beane.”

The show runs now through October 11 and is performed at The Hoffner Lodge, 4120 Hamilton Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45223. For tickets call 1.888.428.7311 or go to http://newedgecliff.com/season/the-little-dog-laughed/
