Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized Cincinnati Shakespeare Company’s TITUS ANDRONICUS with LCT nominations for lead actor (Nick Rose) and featured actor (Darnell Benjamin) as well as distinguishing it as a recommended production.

One of the bloodiest plays in the canon, TITUS ANDRONICUS is full to the brim with revenge, murder, betrayal and crimes most atrocious. TITUS ANDRONICUS evokes startling, gruesome and tragic imagery as the mighty Roman general Titus faces off with his mortal enemy, Tamora, Queen of the Goths. Titus and Tamora, in a spiral of bloody revenge, trade murder for hideous murder, each more brutal than the last.

Panelists praised Nick Rose’s portrayal of Titus as “deliciously mad and steely,” portraying a “huge sea of emotions.” Darnell Benjamin played the unrepentant moor Aaron “powerfully and remarkably multi-dimensionally.” Overall the panelists thought the show was a “delicious Halloween treat…with just the right balance of wit, cheap thrills, and spectacle,” “blood and gore tempered with moments of honesty.” “Two stumps up!”

THREE MURDERS AND IT’S ONLY MONDAY runs Nov. 15-18

THREE MURDERS AND IT’S ONLY MONDAY
Presented by Mason Community Players
Nov. 15-18
Mason

Directed by Becca McLaughlin
Produced by Gaylene May

Cast: Jim Cronin as Harry Monday, Jon Scheiding as Dr. Morrissey, Paula Brinkman as Beatrice Smith, Shannon Mahoney as Tara Dillaise, Dan Nieman as Larramore Mandrake, Larry Catlin as Humphrey Hopkins, Melissia Gary as Lilly: Tobias, Phil Catlin as Hans the Gardner, Jason Richmond as Thunder O’Brien & Perry Gary as The Tramp

It was the kind of night when you caught yourself holding your breath for no reason at all.” So says private eye Harry Monday as he investigates three murders at the Peaceful Pines Sanitarium. In this 1940’s film noir murder mystery comedy, even the police are getting tired of coming out and ask Doctor Morrissey if he could just phone in the details. Then when Tara, a sultry soon-to-be-heiress, shows up, Harry puts his best foot forward… right in his mouth. “Odd how relatives always head up a suspect list,” he notes as the deceased’s families arrive. Odder still when he finds out they all belong to the same family!
