| Purpose of Position | The School of the Arts at Northern Kentucky University invites applications for a Non-Tenure-Track Renewable (NTTR) position teaching piano, overseeing the piano pedagogy degree track, and coordinating the keyboard area within the Music Program, beginning Fall 2022. The Piano Pedagogy track is designed to help pianists and teachers develop skills in the art of teaching piano and in operating a financially successful independent teaching studio. Curriculum is structured to the study of teaching materials and approaches for students at all levels and in all age groups from preschool children to adults in retirement. Pedagogy classes are interactive and include teaching demonstrations by faculty and students, guest lectures and field trips to independently owned music schools for observation. Faculty responsibilities include teaching, program and school-level service, and academic mentoring. As a NASM accredited program, teaching responsibilities adhere to loads as prescribed by NASM.
The School of the Arts at Northern Kentucky University offers a wide array of degree programs in the visual and performing arts. The Music Program within the School of the Arts offers a BME in Music Education (Choral/Vocal and Instrumental), a BM in Performance (Instrumental, Jazz Studies, Piano Pedagogy, and Voice) a BM in Composition, and a BA in Music (Liberal Studies and Audio Production). NKU SOTA Postpones Dates for Remaining Theatre & Dance Season
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – Northern Kentucky University’s School of the Arts (NKU SOTA) will be postponing its remaining spring 2022 productions by one week as a precaution for the campus and community due to recent COVID cases fueled by the Omicron variant. This includes the regional premiere of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, moved to Feb. 25–March 6, 2022; the 20th Anniversary of the YES Festival of new plays, moved to April 7-17, 2022; and Dance ’22 will run April 22-24, 2022. Tickets for each production will be available about one month prior to their respective openings. Patrons can purchase tickets and view up-to-date information at nku.edu/tickets. NKU School of the Arts Hosts Winter Dance Intensive
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – Northern Kentucky University School of the Arts announces the launch of the inaugural Winter Dance Intensive, a three-day pre-professional Dance Institute for Artists in the Making.

Participants will experience immersive dance training with regional and national guest artists that run their own companies. Throughout the intensive, they will receive industry and technical training in advanced ballet and modern technique and repertory work, and gain insight into multiple performance opportunities in dance. Sessions will be held in a new state-of-the-art dance studio on NKU’s campus.
The registration deadline is Jan. 1, 2022, and is limited to 30 participants. The registration fee is $25, and the program fee is $300 (reduced tuition may be available). Video audition submission is required for participation. The program leads include Tracey Bonner, Megan Flynn, and Missy Lay-Zimmer & Andrew Hubbard.

NKU Presents Interactive Whodunit Musical MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – Northern Kentucky University’s School of the Arts continues its 21/22 Theatre & Dance season with “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” by Rupert Holmes, running from Nov. 12-21, 2021 at NKU’s Corbett Theatre. “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” is presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals Company.

In the small town of Cloisterham, England, the young and charming Edwin Drood has been mysteriously murdered. Based on Charles Dickens’ final unfinished novel, Holmes’ Tony Award-winning musical is an interactive whodunit mystery which invites the audience to enter the action. Staged as a show-within-a-show at the Music Hall Royale, this charming and inventive show is sure to intrigue any musical or mystery lover.
Multiple award-winning and critically acclaimed Broadway actor, singer, concert performer, and recording artist Jason Danieley (director) has delighted audiences around the country and world with his incredible performances. In his New York directorial debut, Broadway World called his talents as a director as ‘remarkably impressive’.
The NKU cast features Tim Belton, Ellie Bennett, Megan Carlson, Arianna Catalano, Jason Coffenberry, Ezra Crist, Zachary Farmer, Makenna Henehan, Isabella Huecker, Jeremiah Savon Jackson, Je’Shaun Jackson, Barrett Minks, Kanai Nakata, Ellie O’Hara, Field Oldham, Caroline Rakestraw, Carli Robinette, Avery Sherman, Tre Taylor, Payton Trout, Noah Warner, and Jordan Whittaker. NKU School of the Arts Hosting Costume Sale in Time for Halloween
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – Just in time for Halloween, Northern Kentucky University’s School of the Arts Theatre & Dance Program will be sponsoring a sale of costumes, wigs, and other assorted theatrical items on Oct. 26-27, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. outdoors in the Corbett Amphitheater.
