Auditions Announced for Agatha Christie’s THE MOUSETRAP at Mason Community Players

Auditions for MCP’s THE MOUSETRAP to Be Held in August

Agatha’s Christie’s THE MOUSETRAP has the longest run of any play in the world. It premiered on the West End in London in 1952 and ran continuously until March 16, 2020, when it was forced to go dark due to COVID. The show reopened to audiences on May 17, 2021 and continues to be performed to this day.

THE MOUSETRAP takes place in England in the years following World War II. The mystery begins as news spreads of a murder in London. A group of seven strangers find themselves snowed in at a remote countryside guesthouse, Monkswell Manor. When a police sergeant arrives, the guests discover – to their horror – that a killer is in their midst! One by one, the suspicious characters’ sordid pasts are revealed. Which one is the murderer? Who will be the next victim? Can you solve this world-famous mystery for yourself?

Auditions will be held

  • Saturday, August 3rd, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM
  • Sunday, August 4th, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM

Mason Community Players Summer Production is GOD’S FAVORITE

MCP_Gods FavoriteThe Mason Community Players is the oldest continually operating community theater organization in Warren County, OH. The group operates and performs at the Mason Community Playhouse, located at 5529 Mason Rd. in Mason, OH. Since its creation in 1973, the Mason Community Players has brought more than 120 productions and 30 original musical reviews to audiences in Mason, Ohio. More importantly, the group has become a family for the community, involving people of all ages on stage, backstage, and as spectators.

Director Lara Gonzalez and Producer Laureen Catlin invite you to join MCP in its summer production of Neil Simon’s God’s Favorite. Originally written in 1974 by one of the most successful playwrights in theater history, this rendition of the book of Job is sure to bring hilarity to trials and tribulations.

A long-suffering wife, prodigal son, clueless twins, and a saucy staff are just the beginning. When an unexpected visitor arrives, all hell breaks loose; literally! Learn what happens when things can’t get any worse (or can they?) in this narration of contemporary morality. Come to the Mason Community Playhouse this June 21 – 29 and laugh with us while the jokes and tests of faith crash around you.

This fall, the Mason Community Players will continue their season with the iconic Schoolhouse Rock LIVE in September. In November, they will end their 2024 season with a true classic, The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie. Tickets are now available for all shows in the 2024 season by leaving a message at 513-398-7804 or visiting the website, www.MasonPlayers.org. This year, we continue to bring theater to the community with each show.

Cast Announced for SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE! at Mason Community Players

MCP_logoDirector Laureen Catlin, Assistant Director Deb Davidson, Producer Mary Stan Fizer, and Music Director Lara Gonzalez are excited to announce the cast of Schoolhouse Rock Live!

The show boasts a cast of 45 individuals, which includes three toddlers, eight elementary school students, seven middle school or high school students, two college students, and 25 adults ranging in age from their twenties to their seventies. Together they will bring a touch of nostalgia to the Mason Community Playhouse stage by presenting the songs of the popular Saturday morning cartoon that insisted that learning could be fun.

The cast includes:
Jen Binder, David Bower, Eva Bower, Zara Carpenter, Dominic Catlin, Felicity Catlin, Phil Catlin, Steve Catlin, Tess Catlin, Rylee Combs, Casey Conley, Ryan Drake, Hannah Dwyer, Carly Erickson, Caleb Flaugher, Kelley Flaugher, Nicole Forbus, Leo Gallinger, Chris George, Jason Gonzalez, Lara Gonzalez, Melody Gonzalez, Justin Hanks, Faith Johnson, Pamela “PJ” LeMarble, Jennifer Martin, Lillian Martin, Kayla Nelson, Bianca Page, Genna Pisano, Giulia Pisano, Maureen “Mo” Rettig, Taylor Robbins, Bella Rosato, Jon Scheiding, Kaleigh-Brooke Scheiding, Logan Scheiding, Luca Scheiding, Gaylene May Schumacher, Erin Marie Schwartz, Briella Terry, Robert Terry, Clark Toft, Kim Toft, and Samantha Toft

Through song, the cast helps a teacher gain the confidence to face his first day standing in front of a classroom. They convince him that teaching does not have to be dull and boring, but creative and entertaining. Touching on grammar, math, and history, the familiar tunes burst into homes across the nation from 1973 to 1985 in the original cartoon series.

The cast presents them in a unique way to bring the same creative learning to the Playhouse.
SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE! will be performed September 6-8 and 12-14, 2024.
