MCP_Gender Bender 4Dates added:

  • Fri, Dec. 11 at 8pm

First imagined and performed in 2016, the Mason Community Player’s Gender Bender Revue is Cincinnati’s original “miscast” cabaret! From timeless classics to modern marvels, this revue prides itself on having a diverse and fun set list that is sure to keep you guessing. The production team also strives to create unique performances that can only be found in this show: where else will you hear a Soprano sing “Music of the Night” or hear grown men take on a duet from Wicked? Although we cannot perform on a traditional stage, this year’s virtual performance still strives to create the same magic.

Stage Dark into 2021 for Mason Community Players

MCP_sm logoThe challenges that have become a reality to the world during 2020 have affected the Mason Community Players. The members of MCP are concerned for all who are affected by COVID-19. Their hearts go out to all those families who have lost loved ones, to those who have survived the disease only to have long term physical challenges, and to those who are struggling financially.

In response to directives to address the health crisis, MCP postponed its May show, You Have the Right to Remain Dead hoping to produce it in the summer.

During that period, the landlord of Theatre 42 found it necessary to sell the property. In order to vacate in time, it was necessary to cancel plans for any summer show. And the search for a new venue, which had begun in February of this year, now became even more critical.

To be able to concentrate on finding a new venue for the troupe, the MCP Board of Directors made the decision to postpone the 2020-2021 Season, which was to begin July 2020, to the following year. The 2021-2022 Season will begin with Annie, Get Your Gun in July 2021. That show will be followed by The Yellow Boat in Fall 2021, The Calendar Girls in Winter 2022, and Moon Over Buffalo in Spring 2022. Dates and details for each show will be determined after the acquisition of a new venue and discussions with the directors.

You Have the Right to Remain Dead will not be produced at this time. MCP is not abandoning the show and will work to produce the show in the future.

This means that MCP will not be taking the stage for a year. We will, however, continue to grow as an organization until we can entertain our audiences once again. There is a tradition in the theatre to “keep the ghost light on.” It means that there will always be one light on in the theatre until the next time that someone enters the theatre space. Until MCP enters our new theatre space and we take the stage again in 2021, we will keep the ghost light burning. We hope that you will be there with us.

May you be healthy! May the future be bright!

Online Art Auction Benefiting Mason Community Players

MCP_sm logoThe art is now online and you can view it and see the characters and view their stories and you can bid if you would like!

Mason Player’s “Not-So-Silent” Auction has begun. The link is https://mcpauction.meteorapp.com/

Right now, you may view the art pieces and see the characters with a description of each basket. Until Friday evening, you will be able to peruse the items and read details about each work. During that period, you may bid on any of the items that interest you.

Don’t miss the special live online event on Friday, May 1, 2020. The event will be held from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. A link to the live event will be provided at the top of the auction site.

Our Auction Host will be “joined” by our special characters. The artwork and the baskets will be auctioned off one by one throughout the live event. Who knows when your favorite will be up on the block, so be ready to tune in at 7pm to make sure that you can acquire your favorite.

We won’t be able to provide you with a cash bar on May 1st, so you will have to make sure that you have your favorite beverage on hand to make the event “sparkle.” Please come support your fellow theatre artists and pass the word to any relatives and friends who are fans of art or fun.
