YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN DEAD Coming to Mason Community Players

MCP_You Have the Right to Remain Dead logoThe Mason Community Players have a new and permanent home at 5529 Mason Rd. in Mason, OH. This home, affectionately named the Mason Community Playhouse, thrives with a vibrant new energy. The group continues to work tirelessly on renovations to create the best possible theatre experience for the Mason community. They have just completed performances of their first show in the 2022 season, Belles, which ran during March and are excitedly anticipating the rest of this year’s season.

Currently, the Players are busy in rehearsals for their next production, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN DEAD. This ten person cast will deliver a hilarious murder mystery with an audience participation component. This show is sure to entertain audiences from start to finish and have people guessing from the time they walk into the door until the final curtain.

As the Mason Community Players look to their 50th birthday celebration in 2023, they are thrilled to be spending it at the Playhouse. The Players began performing live in the Mason Community Playhouse in November of 2021. The 2022 season will continue with Nunsense and Nunsense Amen! in July, The Yellow Boat in September and conclude with The Last 5 Years in November.

Performance dates for YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN DEAD will be May 6, 7, 12,13 and 14 at 8 p.m., and a Sunday matinee performance on May 8th at 2:00 p.m.

Directors Sought for 2023 Season at Mason Community Players

MCP_sm logoMCP is beyond excited to start laying out what will be our 2023 Season and the start of our 50th year in Mason, and we want YOU to be a part of it!

MCP would like to invite any and all directors to submit shows that you may have an interest in directing for the 50th anniversary celebration in 2023.

Our new home at 5529 Mason Road in Mason affords us both rehearsal and performance space for up to 5 shows a year.

MCP’s goal is to provide offerings throughout the year that will attract a variety of participants and viewers. That means we need options! We also want your vision for the show; what thoughtfulness or uniqueness you can bring to the production.

Please download and fill out a submission form for EACH show that you are proposing and submit the forms to playreading@masonplayers.org. If you have a copy of the script, please include that with your submission.

All submissions must be made by May 1, 2022 to be considered for MCP’s 50th anniversary.

Auditions Announced for NUNSENSE and NUNSENSE A-MEN at Mason Community Players

MCP_sm logoMason Community Players invites you to join a double-header of NUNSENSE fun this summer! The shows will be presented over the course of two weekends with each cast as the stage crew for the opposing cast.

NUNSENSE will be Directed by Jay Fultz, with NUNSENSE A-MEN being directed by Lara Gonzalez. Both shows will have Music Direction by Pete Padolik and Choreography by Abby Farmer. Both shows will be produced by Susan Berger and Paula Fultz.

Auditions to be held Saturday and Sunday, April 9 & 10, 2022 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and Tuesday, April  12, 2022 from 6:30 to 9:30 PM

Mason Community Playhouse – 529 Mason Road in Mason.

Staff will be seeing mixed groups of men and women. Please sign up for an audition slot here. Walk-ins will be accommodated during free slots.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • All roles are available.
  • Please prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theater selection. Bring your own sheet music; an accompanist will be provided.
  • Cold readings from the script.
  • There will be a short dance audition. Please bring appropriate shoes/clothes.
  • Bring your calendar to auditions and be prepared to list all conflicts.
  • Headshot/resume welcome but not required.

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • NUNSENSE performances are July 15 & 16 at 8:00pm, July 17, 23 at 3:00pm
  • NUNSENSE A-MEN performances are July 21, 22, 23 at 8:00 pm, and July 24 at 3pm
  • Rehearsals commence on May 8, 2022

Mason Community Players Opens BELLES in New Venue

MCP_Belles logoSo many great shows to see throughout the Cincinnati area right now.

Mason Community Players humbly adds their show to the list and asks you to consider coming to see us in our new venue, Mason Community Playhouse, 5529 Mason Road in Mason.

BELLES opens this Friday, March 4th. Shows are March 4, 5, 10, 11, 12 at 8:00 pm and March 6 at 2:00 pm. The show will be live streamed on the 12th.

Tickets are $20 General and $15 Seniors/Students.

Directed by Jim Cronin and produced by Becca McLaughlin, the cast includes Peggy Allen, Melissia Gary, Emma Hall, Ginny Johnson, L Elise Kaplan, and Jennifer Lisa.

Mason Community Players Announces New Home and 2022 Season

MCP_logoThe Mason Community Players is excited to announce that they have a new home in the heart of Mason. In September of 2021, the community theater group bought property at 5529 Mason Rd., Mason, OH. Since acquiring the building, which will now be called the Mason Community Playhouse with a vibrant new roadside sign to match the exited energy that thrives within. The group continues to work tirelessly on renovations with the end goal of creating the best possible theatre experience for the Mason community.

Mason Community Players, Inc. is Warren County’s oldest continuously operating community  theatre. Instituted in 1973, the all-volunteer organization stages five productions each year including at least one musical. For most of its nearly 50 years of existence, the Players have performed at a variety of venues, including 5 years spent at a location on State Route 42 called Theatre 42. In 2020, the group transitioned from Theatre 42 to finding a place to truly call home. As the Mason Community Players look to their 50th birthday celebration in 2023, they are thrilled to be spending it at the Playhouse; their new and forever home.

The Players began performing live in the Mason Community Playhouse in November. They will continue with a full 2022 season which includes Belles in March, You Have the Right to Remain Dead in May, Nunsense and Nunsense Amen! In July, The Yellow Boat in September and The Last 5 Years in November.
