Pippin is the story of one young man’s journey to be extraordinary. Winner of four 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival, this updated circus-inspired version of Pippin continues to captivate and appeal to the young at heart throughout the world. Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh, and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father, King Charlemagne the Great). In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the unextraordinary moments that happen every day. PIPPIN is rated PG-13 and contains adult themes, violence, and some sexual situations. This production uses strobe lighting effects and fog throughout the production.

Synopsis
An unflinching look at a suburban family struggling with the effects of mental illness. Dad’s an architect; Mom rushes to pack lunches and pour cereal; their daughter and son are bright, wise-cracking teens, appearing to be a typical American family. And yet their lives are anything but normal because the mother has been battling manic depression for 16 years. Next to Normal takes audiences into the minds and hearts of each character, presenting their family’s story with love, sympathy, and heart.

Audition Requirements
Please sign up for an audition slot. There will be an audition accompanist. We will be asking for songs from Next to Normal for your audition. The PDFs of your audition cut options can be found at this link, along with the audition form that must be filled out before auditioning. Please also prepare a 1-minute story about family challenges. This audition information can also be found on the website.
This production staff is committed to bringing together a diverse group of people dedicated to bringing this story to life and shining a light on the importance of mental health and family. We encourage performers of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexualities, abilities, body types, and ages to submit an audition. We hope to unite a group of people looking to enhance the arts in our community. The listed age ranges are merely suggestions; no roles have been precast.
