This entertaining educational presentation combines the stories of the actors’ experience of their mental illness/substance use with current statistics and stories of healing. The cabaret style presentation will highlight issues related to substance abuse/dependence, bipolar disorder, major depression, OCD, PTSD, family dysfunction, suicide, mental illness statistics, suicide statistics, mental illness stigma, and accessing mental health services.
Attendees will:
- Learn current mental health statistics as they apply to US populations including the military and youth
- Enhance empathy for individuals who experience mental illness and substance use disorders
- Identify interventions that help
- Understand the need to reduce stigma around mental health issues.
