Considering our increasingly volatile political climate; the pervasive and influential nature of media on politics and cultural perceptions; as well as the rampant religious intolerance observed throughout the world, we are excited to present a multimedia contemporary take on the controversial and heavily political Andrew Lloyd Webber 70’s rock opera about the final days of the life of Jesus. In our production, The message of Jesus, a viral internet sensation, speaks to the yearning masses, inspiring formidable movements and political action, which poses perceived threats to and causes great concern for governments and churches across the globe. Performed by students ages 14-20.

Auditions Announced for THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, SIDESHOW and ASSASSINS at Dare to Defy Productions

D2D_logoDare to Defy is excited to announce open auditions for THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, SIDESHOW and ASSASSINS. All roles are available and are paid non-union contract positions. Auditions will take place June 8, 9, and 10.

Auditions will be located in Studio A in the Loft at 126 N Main St Dayton, OH. All questions should be sent to ProductionSM@d2defy.com.

What to prepare?
Please prepare 32 bars of a song, and have a contrasting selection ready, if asked. Bring sheet music in the correct key- an accompanist will be provided. Also prepare a one minute monologue and have a contrasting selection ready, if asked.

What to bring?
Please bring a headshot and resume, stapled together. An audition form will be emailed to you a few days prior to auditions. Please fill this out and bring it with you as well.

THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME
First rehearsal tentatively scheduled for July 30, 2018.  Performances are September 14 & 15, 2018 at the Victoria Theatre.

SIDESHOW
First rehearsal tentatively scheduled for October 1, 2018. Performances are November 9th-17th, 2018 at the Arts Annex.

ASSASSINS
First rehearsal tentatively scheduled for November 26th, 2018. Performances are January 18th-26th, 2019.

THE WEDDING SINGER is a pop-rock musical based on the hit film of the same name. The Wedding Singer takes audiences back in time when hair was big, greed was good and collars were up. It’s 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party, until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own.

His girlfriend wants to get married and move out of the city, his best friend is making big bucks on Madison Avenue and, yet, Jon is still waiting tables and trying to write the great American musical. Set in 1990, this compelling story of personal discovery is presented as a rock musical filled with instantly appealing melodies and a unique blend of musical theatre styles.

  • BECKY’S NEW CAR presented by Mariemont Players
    Mariemont Players has decided to cancel tonight’s performance. The performance will be rescheduled for Wednesday, January 17 at 7:30pm. All patrons holding tickets for tonight’s performance are asked to call the box office at 513.684.1236 to transfer their seats to Wednesday’s performance.
  • LETTERS FROM VIETNAM presented by Falcon Theatre at Newport Library
    Tonight’s FREE performance has been CANCELLED. New performance date to be announced.

VICTORIA THEATRE ASSOCIATION’S POLICY: If the cast and crew are already at the theatre, performances will go on as scheduled except in the event of a Level 3 Snow Emergency for the city of Dayton. If the cast and/or crew cannot make it here due to weather or other emergencies, performances may be cancelled. If a performance is cancelled due to weather, refunds may be provided at the discretion of the artist/producers and VTA. 

If there is a Level 1 or Level 2 Snow Emergency and you opt not to attend, contact the box office before your scheduled performance and we will try to move you into another performance time.
